Two weeks into the new school year and A World of Difference is up and running. The first meeting was today in room K110, the group discussed who would have leadership roles in the club, the premise of the club, what the club would be planning for this year, and what the club did last year. In the meeting the group decided on what they were going to do this year. Some of which include heeling out in our district by doing workshops at John Jay Middle School, as well as difference days at the elementary schools in the district. Some other things the club has decided to do is an afternoon with teens with special needs from the North East program, getting involved with a program called Special Olympics where special needs young adults compete against each other in different sports, as well as working at a soup kitchen and making donations.
The leadership roles made in this meeting were for the Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary, and Photographer/Journalist, who are Catherine Troiano and Alyssa Loffredo, Ishmam Nur, Maria Labriola, and Izzy Rosen consecutively.
During this meeting the idea of a bake sale came up which is a great way to bring in money. In running a club like A World of Difference that take frequent trips to better the community money plays a big role in order to be able to go on these trips. AWOD currently has saved up $547.66 from last year. This a great start and they are currently talking about a bake sale in the near future to bring in more revenue for the club so they can help the community even more. The next meeting is played for October 7th in room K110.
