Okay ,I owe you an apology. The new From Blood and Ash book is sh*t.
Its called The War of Two Queens but there isn't much of war. And a lot of weird sh*t between Poppy and Kieran.
I should have trusted your writer instincts.
I can't find that post we were talking on, so sending as an ask.
Don't apologise! We are all allowed our own opinions and entitled to them.
In that vein, and with respect in mind, here are my thoughts on AWOTQ:
I did read TWOTQ and I rated it one star in the end on goodreads. I was really disappointed with the story and I realised that I'd become very uninvested in the characters. I thought JLA had lots of opportunities to expand Casteel's character into something that was no longer one-dimensional, but at every turn, it just ended up being about his lust for Poppy.
I think it's a shame, because I felt like JLA really tried to worldbuild in this book but the plot... it was so boring and so... easy? Everything just fell into place. There was no suspense, no emotional depth. The only thing I did admire was how tastefully the Joining was handled. I know this is a controversial subject, but the actual scene itself was very... not JLA in the sense that the rest of the smut throughout the book was trying so hard to be... smutty? Hot?
Yet, I'm not invested in Poppy/Cass/Kieran to continue reading nor the plot. It's too confusing with too little focus. But I do admire JLA for coming up with such an intricate plot, even if the strings of it do feel a little all over the place.
