So apparently the dead boyfriend has returned. My best guess as to what this means is as follows: we aren't really romancing anyone in this game. Instead it's going to be him trying to help you let go and find new happiness without him, possibly with a fair number of flashbacks to unresolved pieces of the relationship before he died that can now be solved. I can only safely guess that because of this:
The whole "I'm not leaving until you've found happiness" is the best tip-off. Whether there could be another LI or not?... maybe, but the way it's going I'm not sure that'll be the case.
Anyways, I guess all we can do is wait! It's sure to be a tearjerker, and probably won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I hope we'll end up with a self-sufficient and independent, happy MC at the end. I'll be sure to fill you all in on what I discover when it releases in April!
