As fall began to fade into winter, colder weather became far more common. Teddie didn’t get cold as easily as others (a bear perk, he called it), but he also enjoyed staying indoors during this time. New weather gave room for new sweets. The blonde was fast in bringing hot chocolate packets and winter tea flavors to Haru’s. All done with the intention that both of them could enjoy the bounty. Call him selfish for bringing gifts he wanted.

Teddie and Haru sat on the couch together enjoying one of those “Winter wonderland” hot chocolate flavors under the warm lights of a movie. It wasn’t fuzzy blanket weather just yet, but they still comfortably close. Feeling Haru nuzzle up closer to him, he extended his left arm around her shoulder and gently hugged her closer still.

He held a warm grin. His top lip was slightly stained by the chocolate but he had yet to notice. The movie flowed in one ear and spilled out the other. He couldn’t recall when he stopped paying attention to the screen and only looked towards her. The loveliest person in the room. Perhaps the gaze from his eyes called her attention as well? A little flickering in one’s mind telling them that someone was watching. She turned her head up towards him, not moving from her comfy spot, and whispered three words that Teddie had always been dying to hear:

“I love you.”

He was caught off guard at first. The parts of him still not used to being in a serious, real relationship jumped forward. It was all still so unbelievable. Memories of being alone, crying without any tears, and wishing for someone, anyone to like him were still very new and raw in his mind. Teddie knew this was all in the past, but the memories still came back to him as nightmares from time to time. He ignored them whenever they did. The faces of his friends and loved ones were good for shooing those thoughts away.

And now, here was Haru-chan…happy, safe, and snuggling up close to him with words so pure they made all of Teddie’s problems fly away in the breeze. Crying right now wouldn’t look too good, but his blue eyes still shined with joy.

“I love you, too!” He snuggled even closer to her, “I love your gentle smile, your soft hair, your big dreams, your kind heart…” Teddie trailed off, but he could’ve kept going even longer. She deserved more.

There was a brief pause. Teddie continued to look towards Haru’s eyes, her cheeks, her lips…His body was warming up in more ways than the hot beverage could do. Bright red cheeks were proof of that. The feeling was new…but good.

“…Haru-chan, may I kiss you…?” He wanted to show his love for her even more today.

Keeping these two together for reasons.

But, of course! Teddie and Haru deserve to be happy and go on cute dates together! It's already established that they do, so might as well write some. Them admitting their feelings to each other also opens the door to what kind of dates they can have and how affectionate they can be towards each other. They're still learning how to be a couple but they're advancing. Baby steps.

They're trying so hard to enjoy their new relationship, but meanwhile outside forces keep trying to split them apart. Teddie's approval rating is still low amongst the Okumura Foods crowd and his working hard to grin and bear it, but it could eventually wear at him a little. Maybe if he's brought along to a holiday party where he's surrounded by these people at all times? Kind of hard to ignore then. Meanwhile the Hanamura's are still a little in the dark right now...

While all the fun is going on, this is still a big transitional period in both of their lives. Haru's very busy with college and Okumura Foods while Teddie is making his decision on what career path to pursue if I do go with the Teddie being a teacher in the future. Studying and work for both. They'll have to learn and adapt to how the other reacts to stress very soon.

Haru will also have to learn that Teddie's a shadow at one point and that'll open its own issues. Relationship checkpoint before being able to move in too deep.

Teddie/Haru -yes I know I probably should log into that blog to ask, but shhh.

Gives nose/forehead kisses. - Teddie! Blame Madoka for teaching him how to use forehead kisses as a sign of affection and good luck.

Gets jealous the most. - Both of them I could see to some extent. They both have experiences being rejected and this is them finally finding that "Yes!". But they would never be angry at the third party, it's fears of their partner preferring someone else.

Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive. - Neither drinks and Teddie can't drive! I guess Teddie could walk her home if she ever gets into any hijinks after reaching drinking age

Takes care of on sick days. - They'd both gladly do this for the other! But since Teddie is not human and follows different rules, it would fall on to him more often

Drags the other person out into the water on beach day. - While Teddie isn't the best swimmer, he'll make sure Haru isn't under that hat and umbrella for two long. Then she takes over once they're in the water

Gives unprompted massages. - Teddie! Physical touch is one of his main love languages. He'd start by massaging her shoulders after working out or a lot of work. They can discover different kinds of massages later

Drives/rides shotgun. - Haru drives and Teddie cannot, self-explanatory

Brings the other lunch at work. - They work at very separate places so it would be geographically difficult. But if that distance ever shortens I think it would be Haru

Has the better parental relationship. - Considering Haru's mom doesn't like Teddie, Haru wins with the Hanamura's by default

Is more likely to cry when watching movies. - These little cry babies are both crying! When wouldn't they cry during a sad movie?

Firmly believes in couples costumes. - Teddie since he thinks they're fun. The costumes are usually more on the sillier side than the sexy side. Something to show off at parties but also enjoy wearing

Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas. - I mean...Haru's the rich one here...but not too often would she do this

Makes the other eat breakfast. - They take turns but maybe Haru does it a bit more to improve her cooking skills, what with her wanting to run a café and all

Remembers anniversaries. - It's on their shared calendar! (is their anniversary the day they started fake dating or when they became official?)

Plans the craziest vacations/birthdays/parties/etc. - Teddie finds the most random places very easily, he's good for that. And it's a nice way for him to take the load off Haru's shoulders if he plans these things himself with a few inputs from her to make sure it's something she'd like

A movie night was calmer fare than their usual activities around town. They texted for awhile to decide on which movie to watch and then chose the time. It was a new film that neither had seen but in a genre they were both used to. Teddie opted against something too scary, today was going to be a relaxing day to end both of their weeks.

He'd noticed a bit of yawning since they met up. Waiting until after they both stepped inside, the blonde asked Haru if she was tired. Only a little, it turns out, but not enough to reschedule. Teddie took her word for it and they moved forward.

They shared a single, large portion of popcorn resting on Teddie's lap. While his appetite could easily consume the whole container on his own with no issue, he made sure to eat slower today. Only two pieces max per handful as the film began. He didn't know when she fell asleep. His question from earlier still tingling in the back of his mind on whether she was only here to not disappoint him. If she wasn't feeling well and had to cancel, Teddie wouldn't mind. What mattered was that both of them could enjoy the date.

Sometime near the middle of the movie, when the popcorn was almost gone, he felt something lightly touch his shoulder. He turned and saw Haru's soft, brunette hair spilling onto his arm. Letting out a gentle sigh, he couldn't help but admire her face as she rested. She looked so serene and peaceful, even in the dark. How couldn't she? Light like hers can shine through easily. A strong, passionate light behind a such a soft, serene form. He wondered, momentarily, if she was dreaming about him.

Teddie left some popcorn uneaten for when she awoke in the empty spot near himself. His head lightly tiled downward to rest on hers, and he continued to watch the movie in peace.

He couldn't tell when she started. Looking up from the cafe's menu in one of the rare times Teddie couldn't decide what to order, he caught Haru's eyes looking at him. There was a sort of calm bliss coming from her that he wasn't used to. He wondered, only for a moment, whether there was something on his head that he wasn't aware of.

Or what if...was she checking him out...? He could already feel his younger self giggling and kicking his feet over the possibility. Outwardly all he showed was a blushing pink. It could be he was imagining things or thinking too deeply, but he wanted it to be true. More and more lately he wanted her to desire him just a little.

Then...her hand slowly touched his cheek, and made it shine an even brighter red. He locked eyes with her, smiled, and tilted his head only a little.

"Do you see something you like?" Her hand was making him feel so warm now, "I am!"

I see them becoming fast friends. Teddie’s positive energy rubs Haru the right way and she enjoys seeing the shenanigans he gets up to. Either of them can initiate getting to know each other more. He can tell that she’s nice but also willing to join in on his adventures. She’s got a desire to explore the world too, and Teddie can feel that. They’re kindred spirits in that way. A lot of the wildest ideas are his.

Speaking of…

I like to think this fake relationship scenario was Teddie’s idea at first, and he sees no potential traps in this plan. No sir! It’s all been thoroughly calculated.

There’re more of the above in this dynamic, of course. But he is also more actively trying to help Haru here. The more he gets to know her, the more impressed he becomes. Her dreams and goals are a whole inspiration to him now! She almost sounds like a fantasy in that regard. Even while having so many serious manners to attend to, she still makes time for him and smiles all the while. Although Haru was always attractive to him, it’s learning more about her as a person that makes him fall for his ‘fake’ girlfriend.

He opens up to her more, too, about his feelings and internal struggles that still persist. Hopefully she can stay beside him even with his flaws.

"She's a princess!" He declared with a dreamy sigh and both hands on his heart. That was the most accurate term for her, a real life princess in multiple ways.

Thinking about himself with a girlfriend was still very new territory. At times he still didn't believe it was true. It was like a beautiful dream, because she belonged in a beautiful dream. The blonde found himself getting giddy again with pink cheeks and a healthy amount of giggles.

"Haru-chan is a beautifully elegant girl! She comes from a beary important family, but she's got her own dreams she's working towards every day. She's also strong, and kind, and has some of the fluffiest hair I've e-bear seen on a girl. Look! I've got pictures!" He immediately takes out his smartphone and starts scrolling through their pictures together. Teddie has taken many.
