I wrote a response to this and then my computer died and it vanished and I got mad and didn't want to do it again but I'm doing it now
31. least favourite clothing style that is currently popular
idek what is currently popular a la the tiktok micro trends. I feel like it all changes immediately. I hear low rise jeans and heroin chic are back in and I hate that and that probably counts
39. what’s one feature you would change on tumblr?
the ability to copy and paste text normally from tumblr mobile. why the fuck does it make me do a whole block of text. die by my blade
40. what’s the most interesting item you own?
I own many interesting items but the most visible is probably this Klimt quilt I bought for [train noise] dollars at a temple charity sale
“As feisty as her twin-tails are long and red. In a sense she reminds me of a certain someone whose hair and prowess at whatever he puts his mind to are of the utmost skill and dedication.”
“Alongside the masked youth from earlier, she strikes me as one of many potentials; albeit not as straightforward as a man with a Wyvern. Even moreso, she gives the effect of one who has been seasoned by many trials and yet still seeks and has potential to grow. Eight of ten.”
tagged by @pngjpeg slash @girlfriendsofthegalaxy to list nine books to read this year! went through my expansive goodreads to-read list and it took me longer than I expected to pull these together.
I taggggg @ceruleanvulpine @delta-orionis and @celestialtourguide, if you all want :3
more on each book beneath the cut:
The Dispossessed (Ursula Le Guin) - technically cheating because I read about 30% of this last year
After the People Lights Have Gone Off (Stephen Graham Jones) - horror short story collection that's I go "oh I should read that" every time I remember it's on my list
The Haunting of Hill House (Shirley Jackson) - should be a quick and fun read, I enjoyed the tv show adaptation and have been meaning to read the book ever since. when I realized it was the same author as "The Lottery" I was like whoaaaa
The Gnostic Gospels (Elaine Pagels) - I read most of her book on the concept of the devil. I have a passing familiarity with gnosticism and its ideas and this feels like a good academic source to start with book-wise for some more history.
The Master and Margarita (Mikhail Bulgakov) - I think this is my primary Serious Literary Fiction(tm) choice for the year.
Strange Practice (Vivian Shaw) - seems like a fun little urban fantasy.
Orlando (Virginia Woolf) - my mom got me a copy of this when I was 12 or so and I bounced off of it HARD. so I would like to try it again as an adult.
Kabbalah (Gershom Scholem) - one of my few physical copies this year probably! I bought this at a used bookstore in 2022 I think, maybe early 2023.
Moths, Myths, and Mosquitoes: The Eccentric Life of Harrison G. Dyar, Jr. (Marc Epstein) - was mentioned on the Astonishing Legends podcast at some point? seems like a guy of all time
had to go relisten to this to remind myself what it was - this is from my playlist of horn concertos! i haven't played this one yet because it's...a little boring, not gonna lie, but it's not very technically demanding so it's probably something i should look at for a bit at some point. i generally like listening to saint-saens, but i also find some of his less well known stuff a little underwhelming.
spooky fun fact: there are at least two separate species of spider (one in the philippines and one in peru) that make 'decoy' spiders in their webs using dead insects and detritus! (image link)
“Lady Say'ri, no… Queen Chon'sin left a quite remarkable impression upon us, it would be nice if we were able to swap stories more often, though it is time apart that gives us the stories to swap in the first place.”
“A talented and well practised swordsmistress, if she has even half the devotion to her station as her blade than I’m sure her lands will prosper. Distance makes the heart grow fonder as they say, though that’s still less a mark for the sting. I’d drop a mark for her… slightly lacking taste in arms, though that’s hardly fair when she’s so skilled in it’s use. Nine of Ten.”
