Headcanoning my favourite characters as aroace never stopped me from liking a great amount of ships with them

I have a decent amount of fandoms I know but only three of them are my personal favourites-- and the ones I'm most invested in, and they are: BSD, PJSK and Genshin Impact. My top favourite characters (Dazai; Mizuki; Heizou) in this fandoms are aroace in my eyes, yet I still have a lot of ships with them what I enjoy.

I'd like to start listing my ships with Dazai first, as he's pretty shippable:

My top three favourite ships with him are: Sigzai (Sigma x Dazai), Soukoku (Dazai x Chuuya), Kunizai (Kunikida x Dazai) and I *personally* ship this ships but I like the idea of him being aroace far more than him being bisexual, as an example. He pulls those specific people that can kill me, and they all secretly want him but he doesn't wants them back.

Sigma and Dazai formed a great trust in few minutes that Sigma couldn't help but to fall for him; Dazai and Chuuya have been partners for 3 years (or 7 years, as other characters tend to believe) and though, they seemed to hate each other, they still trusted each other a lot. Chuuya made Dazai want to live, while Dazai made Chuuya feel human; Kunizai seem like they have an abusive relationship some sort of (as some of people in the fandom believe), by the way Kunikida hits Dazai at times or chokes him even (...can you blame him? Especially with the way Dazai acts), but Kunikida actually cares for Dazai's wellbeing and canonically calls him every morning to check him.

They all couldn't help but to fall for him, and yet he's standing somewhere there, not replicating their feelings. He thougth he was in love with Chuuya before, but he only mistook it for a crush.

OTHER ships I like with him are: Souheki (Ranpo x Dazai), Akizai (Yosano x Dazai), Fyozai (Fyodor x Dazai), Nikozai (Nikolai x Dazai) and that's certainly a lot of ships for me. Surprising how a single character can be this shippable . I might someday add Dazai x Poe and Dazai x Yuan in my 'Dazai shipping list' thing for funs and giggles

When it comes to PJSK, I'm still new but Mizuki already managed to become my favourite.. I have only 3 fav ships with her, but I believe I might get more on my plate when I'll go through the lore of PJSK more.

My fav ships with her are: MizuMafu, MuziRui and MizuEna, but I like MizuMafu more than anything. It's my most favourite ship with Mizuki. I believe, I first liked it because I liked the whole funky girl x tired girl dynamic they had, but now I like them because Mizuki says that they're "quite alike" in a sense that people around them refuse to recognise their true selves, and that gives me some T4T thoughts (in Transfem Mizuki x Transmasc mafuyu we trust), but besides all T4T thoughts, it gives some connection between them and I like that.

I saw people ship MizuRui and at first couldn't understand why (I was still chill about it), till i found the fanarts between the two which implied that Rui knew Mizuki before they even began to crossdress (if you can say that..). I'm still not sure if that's canon, but it gives a nice Idea of Rui knowing that Mizuki is trans and accepting them for that, or Rui being one of the few people who knows that Mizuki is trans. And Mizuki's gender is rather... controversial in this fandom.

MizuEna have quite a close relationship in canon as wiki stated (I still didn't go through all the main stories); especially with Mizuki wishing to stay together with Ena and Ena not opposing of that idea. I think it's pretty cute, and I might ship them more when I'll see more content of them in the game.

I headcanon Mizuki as Aroace, but her ships are scrumptious and I'm ready to eat them with delight

Genshin Impact is my MOST favourite game and I like Heizou there most. He's my comfort character and I project a few things onto him, because how couldn't I, and one of projection being aroace. I still have a lot of ships with him (some of them I don't even know the ship name of... I just simply love them): HeiKazu (Heizou x Kazuha), Heishino (Heizou x Shinobu), Ayahei (Ayato x Heizou or Ayaka x Heizou), Heimiya (Heizou x Yoimiya), Ittozou (Itto x Heizou), Heisara (Heizou x Sara), Heiscara (Heizou x Scaramouche), Heizuki (Heizou x Mizuki) and Heizou x Thoma (I don't know their ship name). And that's... 9 ships in total, which is insane for me.

HeiKazu are the friends who have natural understanding of each other, and I find that pretty wholesome. I see them more as siblings, if I'll be honest, but everyone has got to have a little crush on Heizou and that would include Kazuha too.

Heishino are also friends. They first met when Shinobu had to bail Itto out of jail and such a thing became more frequent the more itto and his pals began to get in jail. With all this meetings in jail, Heizou began to unironically calculate the time Shinobu will come again to bail Itto out. They probably hang out outside of their responsibilities.

Ayahei (Ayato x Heizou) became rather a crack ship due to the little headcanon of them being frenemies (they sometimes want to strangle each other) or two mentally insane (at least, according to other people) men having some sort of connection that might not end well

Ayahei (Ayaka x Heizou this time) are the two people who come from 'perfect' families, yet one is used and adapted to such life (Ayaka), while the other says it's not the type of life for him (Heizou) and I find it cool of them

Heimiya, because I can see them being chaotic platonic friends more but I can also see Yoimiya gaslighting herself into believing she likes men (Lesbian yoimiya is dear to me) and thinking she's in love with the detective. Turns out she wasn't, she was delusional for a particular reason

Ittozou are the two dumb friends, except one of them is a genius who acts dumb while the other is an actual dumbass (he's sweet tho). They cause chaos around and Heizou definitely played TCG with Itto a few times when he had the time

Heisara are more of siblings in my eyes and I can see them calling each other siblings in private, cause-- they're like the two 'family figures' they needed but never had in their miserable life until now.

Heiscara are the detective x criminal, but that criminal can actually kill the detective and the said detective wouldn't mind. Heizou would act like a little shit and annoy the hell out of Scaramouche who would occasionally show his anger to the other. Heizou is also a pain in the ass, we all know that

Heizuki is a personal rarepair I came up with the moment Mizuki's drip marketing was out, only because they were both rather shady and mysterious in my eyes. Everyone knows bare minimum about them. Even those who knew them for a long time can't tell that's their favourite colour is. Or dish. Where did they even come from anyway?

Heizou x Thoma is just Thoma somehow falling for a guy who he described as "hard to get along with". It might just be Heizou's charm somehow working on Thoma.

Can't write much of deep things with Heizou, cause he's a 4 star and usually 4 stars are getting ignored by hoyoverse. Wish he had more content in game.

Re-read this post of mine and it got me thinking again about Heizou ships and I even got more ships for him. I'll lost all I could possibly think of and try to explain my reasoning even though I'm really bad at wording and explaining; I'll try my best (Be also prepared for the fact, that this might be influenced by my own headcanons/visions/views of the characters especially Heizou. Some of the things might not be canon at all and are mefe headcanons.)

1. HeiKazu/KazuHei. This ship is fairly one of the most popular Heizou ships and I think it deserves it's popularity because it'd genuinely good in my eyes. Both of them having a natural understanding of each other and it makes me think how Kazuha is one of the few people Heizou can allow himself to act like his own self in front of. He doesn't needs to worry about asking for help (then throw the idea and handle everything himself), as he knows he can trust Kazuha and knows that Kazuha will help him. It just tells about their trust and closure. They both have dead friends so they can relate to each other. Dead friend club <—— they're part of it wooh

2. Heikuki/Heishino/Shinzou get along according to canon but most of their meetings happen in jail when Shinobu has to boil out Itto and other members of the Arataki gang. But they also have a few backgrounds interactions considering Shinobu asks Heizou to bring Itto (who's in jail at those moments) lavender melons. Maybe they hang out outside of their responsibilities (they probably do knowing the 4.6 event but I feel like all of their conversations were about Lumine/Aether and Heizou was doing the yapping as usual. They're cute but they don't interest me as much as they used to

3. HeiSara/SaraHei are canon co-workers. Though, them being lovers or having something romantic going in is acceptable considering they both are grown ass adults, I can't see them as lovers and can only see them as siblings. They're the siblings both of them needed in their lifes. Both of them are rather distant when it comes to their families (Both of them are the black sheeps of their families despite their success in the Tenryou commision ) and they understand that. They'll understand how it feels like to feel pressured into carrying some duty that they were forced into. The difference is, is that Heizou managed to escape from that pressure (receiving another pressure in the end which is all the detective work and not being able to ask others for help), while Sara continued on carrying and consuming that pressure (receiving another pressure of being the general of the Shogun's army and simply being a reliable general figure. Asking for help would be absurd.). They're similar while not trying to be similar .

4. Ittozou/Heito are pretty silly to be honest. Both of them can be seen as childish and unserious in other people's eyes but if the situation asks for it then they can drop that persona. Both of them aren't liked by other people because of the way Itto acts and Heizou's perspective job at the Tenryou commision (also he's hard to get along with). They both lost friendships that they held dear to their hearts but there's a difference between them. Itto managed to rebuild the friendship that he lost or at least seemed to get his back friend. Something like this can't be said for Heizou. Unlike itto, he will never get this things bavk , since his friend is already dead. He lost his friendship into the abyss of death, the friendship that was given a second chance was lost.

5. AyaHei/Heiyato don't have voicelines for each other, and in the 5.4 event they just stood next to each other. They both work for the government and serve the raiden Shogun (technically). Both of them may be considered to be weird and strange for the way they act. But I think the thing that makes them similar is that both of them didn't had a childhood or they lost it. Heizou, according to the first sentence in his vision story, didn't had a happy childhood and his father was forcing him into martial arts (the thing Heizou didn't enjoy), while Ayato lost his childhood the moment his parents die, as he had to give in to Kamisato's clan duties and become it's soon head. And now they tend to act childish or are seen as such in others eyes. They were adults stuck in children's bodies.

6. Heiyaka/Ayahei have voicelines for each other but I dont recall them meeting. They both come from a perfect family but one is adapted to such life (ayaka), while the other says it's not the life for them (Heizou). I also remember someone mentioning they both hav interest in puzzles and that's something they can bond over.

7. Heirou/Gorouhei is filled with distrust since Gorou tends to not trust Heizou. Heizou seems to be pretty chill with Gorou, so the distrust is one-sided and it comes from Gorou. I can't blame him for not trusting Heizou, since Heizou is someone who comes from the Tenryou commision, the commission they had a war with (that one battle scene where kokomi arrived). Maybe this relationship is about gaining for an "enemy" that doesn't face any dangerous intentions towards the island that you protected for so long. The island you swore to defend.

8. Heikoko/Kokohei may bond over their love for books. Both of them aren't fond of asking for help as they used to be the one people can rely on all the time. They both are definitely mentally exhausted as their duties require thinking and analyzing. They definitely get tired but try to hide it from other people and they're doing their best.

9. Heizuki/Mizou is a Rarepair of mine and that can unite the both of them is that they're pretty secretive about their pasts and their own problems. The only person who they could and managed to possibly open up was the traveller. They both carry the understanding and experience of loosing people who they once called (and maybe still do) friends. And that's something that strives them to do something that they do (Mizuki being a therapist and helping people with their problems, as maybe that way she can prevent further loses. Heizou being a detective who solves crimes and makes other criminals think before they want to commit their crime and also him solving crimes can prevent further loses). The mizuki part might not be canon but I like to imagine it is

10. Heimiya/Yoizou are the two people I think might get along. Yoimiya in general seems to get along with everyone (unlike Heizou who isn't liked by other people thus doesn't gets along with them) and her character is related to festivals. The day Heizou's friend died in his arms was the festival day and I believe Heizou might not like festivals because of that or, at the very least, avoids them (in 5.4 he didn't attend the festival and only stayed in the back. Which could be explained by his Tenryou commission duties...). Maybe Yoimiya can help him overcome that dislike and avoidance for the festivals.

11. HeiThoma/Thomazou are the two people who don't get along canonically. Not in the way you might think- Thoma is respectful towards Heizou but he does says how Heizou is not the easiest person to get along with and this opinion and take is basically the way other people think of Heizou. But Thoma is respectful towards Heizou and I dont think Heizou minds him.

Honorable mention I dont even understand how I could have forgotten about them that time:

12. Heizou x his friend (I'll refer to him as Taiyo) and I need for people to hear me out. They're canon friends, childhood friends even! Heizou has met his friend on the festival and, despite Taiyo's intention to steal from Heizou (perhaps he came from a poor family and stealing was his way towards survival who knows), they became friends pretty quickly. Taiyo was the colourful vision to Heizou's monotone life. Eventually, Heizou realised that his friend was lying to him and he broke their friendship and then later threw all the stolen things Taiyo gave him, leaving a single green pebble to rot under his bed. A year later, Heizou decided to come to a festival only to find his friend getting stabbed. He tried to stop the blood but nothing was working and Taiyo died in his arms that day, leaving Heizou with a green pebble and an anemo vision. Taiyo's death made Heizou ran away from his house and begin his journey as a detective. They're tragic, doomed by the narrative, yaoi, childhood friends, friends, homoerotic relationship between two stupid teenagers (they were definitely acting like idiots around each other) and of COURSE you tried to save him but couldn't wow.

uh, my first concept of Heizou from arranged marriage au by @throwingstuffhere, thank you for inspiration there!

design explanation under the cut

uh.. look, character design is hard, and this is one of the first ideas i came up with after staring at Kamisatos for a while. this will change, if i ever do this again

there was this reddit post about Ayato’s design and how it was majorly inspired by Japanese Meiji era clothes, worn by both nobility and samurais, it is here, if you are curious

here, my main problem was, well, Heizou is decidedly not a samurai, so a lot of design choices for Kamisato siblings or even Thoma wouldn’t fit, he needs more space to move

so the liberties i’ve taken here (in this iteration, again, if i decide to work on this more i most likely will change things i didn’t do enough research for it to be any form of final design), i took Ayato’s design and adjusted it:

instead of Ayato’s coat, which will constrict his movements, flail around and overall be very impractical, here he wears a cloak, which is easy to remove and put it back on (and i imagine he’d flick the cloak dramatically); the Yashiro commission crest on his back

instead of the tight western trousers he’d wear hakama pants (or something along those lines), which also allows him more freedom

now, like Ayato, he’s also wearing kimono, but after sitting on it i’ve started to lean towards a western shirt under, but those tend to be tight as well, so cropped? Heizou doesn’t tend to worry about propriety and it wouldn’t be visible anyway, so that might be one of the changes i’d make 

unlike Ayato who wears at least four layers of fabric, Heizou would have at most three and that’s counting the cloak

to emphasise the fact that Heizou is a part of the family, but is distancing himself from them, I’m giving him clothing of similar style, but slightly different colour scheme (i know this image is not coloured, bear with me): 

Kamisatos’ accents colours are deep blues, purples, golds. well, in Ayaka’s case, it’s more pink then purple, but I’m wilfully ignoring that, now it’s light purple

Heizou in this au might wear gold and purple, and burgundy (or maybe orange-ish brown like his shorts from his og design) as “his own” color, so he fits in, but also not really

every Kamisato (Thoma, obviously, included) has their visions motif in their clothing (or, well, their main outfits ig, i didn’t look at Ayaka’s new dress): so Heizou’s most likely will be on his cloak, like Thoma or Ayato, or his pants, like Ayaka’s dress. which also could tie into his character arc, if it comes to that: Heizou accepts his role and instead of the burgundy he’d wear his vision’s blue-ish green, so his colour scheme is closer to the siblings

did you know that inazuman designs tend to have a lot of rope and ties? well, i didn’t until before i started this thing, so naturally this design is too simple for Inazuma and genshin in general, so it needs more work

also i made his hair a bit less unruly then i would normally do (not that anyone could tell) and he doesn’t have the tie

some thoughts on that under the cut (and close ups of the coloured Heizous)

i talked previously about this a bit, so there are going to be things i've said previously and a couple of new thoughts. but mostly just rambling

the design choices were made as if Heizou was an in-game character who frequently fights but still needs to look presentable

i’m still on the hakama pants for Heizou, and if not that, he’d probably ask to make the trousers loose (like slacks maybe), with all the splits Heizou can do they’d tear otherwise, unless the material is more flexible than how it looks on Ayato. but quite frankly they look just like normal ones, if a bit more expensive

i am, in fact, speaking from personal experience, dress trousers are very likely to tear if you try kicking something high above your waist level - especially if it's more than once, and i don’t imagine Heizou is very careful about this, and i think he’s used to more freedom in his leg work, or any body part actually, he has a lot of skin showing

as for everything else: it's pending, really.

the vision could be both on his right hip - just like Ayato, or his left one - sort of like it used to be, and mirroring Ayato and also kind of completing the Kamisato's vision placements: Ayato and Thoma on the right hip, Ayaka on her back and Heizou on his left. i also could be reading too much into things (or i'm actually not reading into this enough and it's very important for the characters where they place their visions: like how important their vision is to them, or there's symbolism of the placement, or it's just pure aesthetics)

i had half a mind to put Heizou in a pair of dancing shoes. they look so funky - i have no idea if they are comfortable or not and they look like they could slip off at any moment. for the record i am not planning on putting him in a pair of funky dancing shoes (for now)

tbh i didn't think too much about his footwear previously, i just thought to put him in some dress shoes like Ayato, even if those are not particularly comfortable - but it would be more painful if he delivers some sick kicks: physics of pressure, with the area being smaller and the force staying the same and all that

he could also go with geta (or sandals?) like Ayaka - which would also make sense. Ayato's job requires him to sit a lot so naturally he doesn't walk too much for the shoes to cause him any trouble, but if we're going with the assumption that Heizou tends to work best on foot (old habits die hard, you see), then he'd be miserable if he wore the shoes all the time. counterpoint, however, is that i don't want to draw toes, and i am a coward

also the coloured designs are what i'd consider his formal outfit: as far as my research goes, yukatas (which Heizou usually wears in the au from what i can tell) tend to be worn for less formal events, and it's at the very least not customary to wear yukatas under hakama pants, so..

also also it has been a while since i’ve properly worked with colour so i am extremely unsure how I want this to look, that is why there are two sets of colours of each design. and i don't even think i'm satisfied with that? and obviously the outfit can be a combination of the two styles, i just threw things at the wall to see what sticks

the first version is based on the one i've made previously, with some minor changes, like the Anemo inspired print on the pants and on the inside of the cloak (i don't know if it is noticable, there are sakura petals as well), and the arm guards (also yes, the red does not look very good on him, i just wanted to add something different, spice things up a little). and yes, i still imagine Heizou magically discarding the cloak when he attacks

(edit) additionally, Heizou with more blue in his palette:

the second one is very heavily leaning on Ayato's design, with less layers, loose trousers and a western shirt underneath. this one was done mostly to test out the coat and the trousers

and lastly: i'm not a historian or a fashion designer or a historian fashion expert. i have no idea what i'm doing other than looking at all the pictures available on the internet and drawing inspiration from that
