way back in 2003, my family and i moved states. we drove across the country to do so, and happened to stop for the night in nebraska. my (not white) mom went in to get a hotel room. they wouldn’t give her one, even though the sign said there was vacancy. my parents, it being late and dark and having two small and exhausted children, couldn’t afford to be driving around trying to find another hotel. my (white) dad went into the lobby and they gave him a hotel room, no problem. i still think about this all the time. that was over 20 years ago and you’d think things would be better now but with the way things are going in this country i seriously doubt.
sorry to anyone who lives in nebraska, but fuck nebraska. you will never catch me back in that state.
omg im so sorry that happened to your family ugh. yeah it's sad to say i cant guarantee that wouldn't happen again today the way things are, as awful as it is to say.
