Apparently the Defenders showrunners were the Daredevil S2 showrunners, which explains why they really didn't seem to know what to do with Jessica or Luke.

I agree! Starting with the movies. There was a lot of wasted potential with the prequel since it was more about Chris character than anything, the trailer was very misleading. I think Snow/Ravenna was more of a popular pairing at the time but overall it’s a bit of a let down :\
