The Arizona First poll found 62 percent of likely GOP primary voters agreed that “outside election spending needs to be controlled and disclosed.”
“Over the last two election cycles, Arizona has become ‘ground zero’ for undisclosed money, and Congressional District 5 is the new special-interest war zone for these financially well-heeled dark-money interests to hand-pick their candidate,” said Charles Coughlin, president and CEO of HighGround Public Affairs Consultants, which conducted the poll for Arizona First. “The race is now a toss-up with two weeks left despite an electorate who would prefer to know where the spending is coming from.”
The poll specifically noted that Biggs and Olson “have backed efforts to reduce campaign-finance regulations including weakening financial-disclosure rules — especially for so-called social-welfare dark-money organizations.”
