A Rainy Monday
As forecast, we awoke to rain this morning, and it continued, off and on, for the entire day. After the morning low of 52 degrees, the high managed to rise to 63.
My blood sugar rose again, this time to 185. While yesterday’s good intake might have had something to do with that, the lack of exercise might have as well. Sadly, due to the rain, there was no walking again today.
Following our coffee and the Monday edition of the online brain games, Nancy and I fixed a breakfast of cheesy eggs, bacon and toast with jam.
After a relaxing post-breakfast period of time watching the rain come and go, Nancy and I went to the Mini Pet Mart on Q Street to get a new bag of kitty litter. Then we went to the St. Vinnie’s next door to look for steps for the cats to get up to the living room window and a lamp for Nancy’s piano. We found nothing that worked for either need.
Next, we went the back way to Market of Choice at Valley Oaks where we stocked up on a number of grocery items, including a cheaper red wine for cooking the evening meal’s roast.
When we got home, we changed the sheets on the bed. Given the prep time necessary for cooking a roast, Nancy started on dinner. She put the meat in the Dutch oven on top of the stove and cooked it to start. After an hour or so, she added onions and water, and we moved it inside the oven to continue to bake.
Meanwhile, I read more in my new book, then spent more time on the Flickr account updating all the additional views and faves for the latest Explore pick. I also briefly looked over my answers for the 5 p.m. 10th Tradition Zoom meeting and made a few small changes.
After Nancy and I napped for a while, we took the meat out of the oven, added potatoes and carrots, and put the pot back in the oven.
At 5 p.m. I checked into the Zoom meeting to go over our answers to the questions on the 10th Tradition. We also spent a bit of time catching up with each other on some of the other things going on in our lives. One of the fellows is having hernia surgery next week. Another one recently purchased a recumbent e-bike. I shared about a friend in the fellowship in Tucson who will be celebrating 50 years in recovery next month. I received an e-mail about creating a brief video offering my congratulations on the occasion.
By the time we got off Zoom, our dinner was ready to dish up. Nancy and I filled our bowls with roast, potatoes, carrots, and lots of juice. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and we have enough left over for at least a couple more dinners.
Our Monday evening streaming followed. We began the evening with the two “fall” episodes of the second series of “The Four Seasons.” After that we took in the fourth episode of the final series of “Resident Alien.” Then we closed out our entertainment with the second episode of the new series of “Patience” on PBS.
There is supposed to be a little more rain just after midnight tonight, but though there is a chance until mid-day on Tuesday, nothing is currently predicted during the day. But there will be clouds around, so some rain might fall out of them. The low tonight will reach 51 degrees, while the high tomorrow could get into the mid-60s.
Except for my men’s recovery meeting on Tuesday evening, there is nothing on our calendars for tomorrow. If we do wind up having some kind of fun and adventure during the day, I will certainly write about it here in the report for tomorrow.
