Photographing Nature in Dry Tortugas National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking around and exploring the Bush Key portion of Dry Tortugas National Park. The view is looking to the north-northeast to some nearby bushes and small trees that a multitude of tern birds were flying about and nesting. My thought in composing this image was to focus on the birds flying about above while letting the autofocus on my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera follow the birds flying around with bird subject detection. I figured I could then find the images that had the best pattern of birds flying about.

My Time for a Getaway in Bryce Canyon National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the Rim Trail with a view looking to the north across eroded formations of grottos and hoodoos in Bryce Canyon National Park. In composing this image, I decided to take advantage of the valley or draw that the different ridges and spurs created with Bryce Amphitheater from this overlook. On both sides would be the oranges and reds of the hoodoos and then in the middle would be the greens of the evergreen trees. The latter would be more like a leading line into the image, in my mind.

Congress Ave in Austin, Texas by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking around Austin and then crossing Congress Ave around 6th Street with a view looking north to the capitol building off in the distance. My thinking in composing this image was to more or less be centered in the street and using the street as a leading line into the image. Buildings on both sides would be that focus for the viewer to look ahead. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 4 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

Navigating the Forest and Trees Along the Long Lake Trail (Indiana Dunes National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: In Indiana Dunes National Park while walking through a forested setting. This was along the Long Lake Trail with a view looking to the northeast. My thinking in composing this image was to use the hiking trail to my front as a leading line into the wooded setting and image. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 4 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
