All You Need to Know about Epic of Kilan
Summary: When in doubt follow Kilan’s arrow.
Kilan is the goddess of fate, a title not so easily won after, as a mortal, she brawled with Death. Now she’s been in the pantheon for four thousand years with little change, but it turns out that it’s only the gods that are stagnant.
A new drug passing through the city has given those willing to try it the ability to see the gods in their immortal forms, and magic once used only to tame wild animals has been turned against the gods themselves. To make matters worse, the city’s population is burgeoning and on the point of destruction all because Nepheti, the goddess of life and fertility, has kept Death from doing his job.
Even as things go from bad to worse, the gods refuse to do anything, their arrogance preventing them from seeing that they too are in danger. Only Kilan understands what it’s like to be both human and god and must find a way to free Death and stop whatever drug has threatened the fragile line between the mortal and the divine.
Kilan- A stoic cinnamon roll who can’t express her emotions properly because talking about it is hard. She takes responsibility for doing everything because she doesn’t trust other’s to get it done. Born mortal but was killed by a pack of wild dogs. She fought Aznades in an attempt to return to her mortal life, but was made into a god instead when she completed the Trials of Nepheti. Goddess of Fate.
Aznades- A love struck cinnamon roll who is very charming but hasn’t figured out how to act in front of Kilan in 4000 years. He’s the God of Death and is super chill. Also born mortal but was the very first mortal, so he was made into the god of death when he died because like death didn’t exist before him.10/10 would get a beer with.
Bazias- What a guy. He’s the God of Love and Peace, but, more importantly, he’s the twin to the Goddess of Hate and War. They don’t have a good relationship to say the least. He’s a bit of a hoe, but we don’t judge. Also Kilan’s bff.
Mazra- Bazias’s twin sister with a lot of anger management issues. Goddess of Hate and War. Bazias once made her fall in love with a mortal after she killed one of his lovers for insulting her. He then killed the mortal, but Mazra turned the man into a wild dog (cool name for wild dogs tbd) to save his life. This is one of many reasons Mazra and Kilan also don’t get along.
Nepheti- The head bitch. She’s the Goddess of Life and Fertility and created the original gods (Urhaya, Sahnu, Zyra, Malrov, and Janria) by mixing her blood with sand. Also, the mother of Mazra and Bazias. She recently stopped Aznades from doing his job because she felt threatened by his power.
Eaka- Nepheti’s husband, Mazra and Bazias’s father. He’s the God of Chaos and was created when Nepheti tried to remove all of the evil and ill-willed parts of herself after she tried to wipe out the first civilization and her children stopped her. She was injured in the fight and the wound became infected, when she removed all of the puss and infection from the wound, Eaka was formed. He is currently chained in the underworld
Leron- A sickly child prince who was born with the ability to see the gods. He befriended Kilan when she was sent to seal his fate and kill him. He wants to turn Kilan into the most important god, but Kilan just appreciates having a mortal friend again.
Definitely not all of the characters. These are the most important god characters, but I need to flesh out all of the mortal characters that aren’t Leron.
Hayamui- A desert empire. It is the largest empire in the world; though, much of its land is uninhabitable. Its capital Diaphon is oddly located next to a massive lack rather than the ocean, even though the empire has a thriving sea trade. Many believe the city is located here because it is the place where Nepheti gave birth to her first five children and that the sea goddess (Zyra) ran away from her family to marry the goddess of the sunrise (Typhin), thus the ocean is now on the other side of the country where the sun rises, and Diaphon is left with only a lake where Zyra used to reside.
The Pantheon- The gods are aware that only people in Hayamui worship them and that there are other nations beyond its border, but it is believed that these lands are godless. There is a loose hierarchy of gods with Nepheti at the top followed by her original five children then the twins Bazias and Mazra. Other gods are considered lesser
