Bel Air, CA (The Hollywood Times) 2/7/16- Paris Chansons brought an international flair to Bel Air, CA as they performed at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Jazz Bar & Grill atop Mulholland Drive. The dark upscale atmosphere of the venue set the mood for a night of French classics, with a few European hits throughout the sets. Mixing seductive melodies with rhythmic dance beats, the band’s unique arrangements brought a fresh take on the tunes which highlighted their instrumentation and vocals, even performing an original song that was every bit as good as the Aznavours, Jacques Brels & Edith Piafs they covered.
The lineup was led by the beautiful & enchanting chanteuse Julia Kantor & her husband Jacob on vocals and guitar. Band members included Jeff Lams on piano, Adam Cohen on upright bass, Sinclair Lott on drums and the amazing talents of Endre Balogh on violin. The passionate and classy guest vocalist Max Cohen sang several French hits & led the audience through a rousing rendition of the Italian favorite “Lasciatami Cantare”.
By the end of the evening the music drove many audience members to the aisles to dance among the tables. Clearly they were moved by hearing the sounds from their own country performed live. Whether you are from France, Russia or Italy or just someone who appreciates the European classics, head to a Paris Chansons show and you just might find yourself dancing in the aisles too.
Paris Chansons will be performing at the Sofitel Hotel On February 23rd, 2016. You can purchase tickets & learn more about the band at www.parischansons.com
