lance throws down his bayard as he sees the galran fall, and runs over to kai. “ are you okay ?? i’m so sorry, i let them get too close. this is all my fault. come on, we’ll go back to the castle. ”

Arland stopped when he saw her across the hanger, stretching and not seeming to realize he was there at all. Stars and moons, it had been ten thousand years, and perhaps a little longer still. She didn’t use her organic form that much around them back in the day, just enough that he remembered faintly from time to time she even had it. But oh, seeing her like this again, it brought back such fond memories and tears to his eyes. 

“Qu-quiznak....” Literally. Arland quickly struggled to wipe his eyes and silence his sniffling. He was not crying, he was not about to cry in front of his lion! Not again....she didn’t deserve that. He just-...he was so happy to see her, and they just wouldn’t stop.

The hangar is cold and dark when Lance finds himself wandering in. It’s another restless night for him, one that consumes his very soul and screams at him. Nights like these are very common for Lance, because the silence is too much. Pidge can’t always lend out their headphones, and his bedroom literally makes no noise at all. It’s completely sound proof.

For most people, this wouldn’t exactly be a problem. After all, to some the silence is soft and relaxing, soothing rough edges and urging brains to shut down and allow their host to sleep. But for him, it’s hard and it chokes you. It tapes his eyelids to his forehead and it pulses in his ears. Lance hates the silence with every fiber of his being. 

So what he needs is someone who understands him. Someone who’ll willingly sit up with him and talk to him, soothe his soul and fill it with a comforting noise. And that person he needs, more than anything, is Kai.

“Hey, Kai?” He asks hesitantly as he steps towards Blue- The name he’d taken to calling her lion form. The echoing noise of his bare feet hitting the smooth surface of the ground sends pleasant shivers down his spine.  “You’re in here right? I’ve literally looked everywhere for you and couldn’t find you anywhere.”

     “ WOW. Just... wow. I thought I knew tech, and then I found my way out here, and you’re just... wow. ” The repeated use of that word couldn’t quite deliver the depth of Asami’s awe. This castle, and the lions themselves, were like a dream come true for her. “ Your workings are incredible. The combination of tech and... magic, I guess, is just breathtaking... do you feel everything the machinery feels? Or does it not work like that? ”
