Lance has to admit, he feels like a bit of a traitor especially considering the fact that he and Blue were super close. Still are close, in fact. He relies on her emotionally, because sheâs his anchor. Blue would probably be coaching him through this whole situation, but that seems incredibly disrespectful to Red. While Blue still does hum slightly in the back of his head, he tries to focus only on the lion heâs currently sitting down in.Â
He hates to admit it, but he feels lost without Blueâs calm and gentle guidance. And scared, but he can do this! He will do this. For him and Red, because this is one of the most important parts of bonding with a Lion, the first interaction. If he screws this up, heâll lose any chance of connecting to Red. And despite his and Blueâs relationship, he truly wants to get to know her. From what Blue has told him, Redâs not a bad person at all. Just mildly misunderstood. Like him!
Her hum vibrates through his entire body and lights him on fire. He shivers, and his foot begins to bob up and down excitedly. Itâs a strange, bubbly excitement he only gets with Blue or when he goes somewhere exciting. It was sort of like he and Red were about to go on a trip Disney World, which was a weird analogy but still very true. Â
âIndependence?â He;s a bit confused at what she means by that. He thought all Lions were able to make choices without their Paladinsâs consent. âWhy would I take any of that away from you?â Blue certainly piloted herself most of the time, because Lance was just far to antsy to cooperate sometimes. âYouâre your own person, Itâs just wrong for me to control you. I like to think of it more as...weâre partners! I work with you, you work with me.â
Lance has to bite back a startled scream once Red launches away. Itâs not the speed that got to him, more like the suddenness of it. âWow!â A large, playful grin spreads across his face. This was fun! Blue only ever went fast when it was necessary, preferring to go at her own pace. Red was definitely more spontaneous. A tight feeling of understanding coils in his chest. Lance loves Blue, and has much in common with her, but not like this. Blue was far more calm and collective, always a steady hand to guide him. Red...Redâs something different.
Or, well, so far she is. Who knows what the future holds.
âFaster! Faster!â He feels like a child, but Lance doesnât particularly care. He just grips tightly at his seat, letting Red control everything.
