@pb_and_jaleh inspired me, since she drank her bottle of the 2017 Minotaur from @odditywinecollective the other night. So, I'm currently hiding in my parent's bathtub, sipping my bottle, while they babysit Pippin and watch that big game or whatever. The 2017 Minotaur is a wine truly in need of a great Theseus statement. So let me start by saying this Mourvèdre, sourced from Cimarron Vineyard in the Willcox AVA, is a savory expression of this varietal. Aromas of cherry, boysenberry, and huckleberry intermingle with anise, sandalwood, and wisteria on the nose. On the Palate, the Minotaur charges onto the tongue with bright red fruits: red currants, cherry, plum, and pomegranate jam, with subtle graphite, stone, and earth. The finish is long and savory, with notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and anise emerging as the wine descends down your throat. I want to pair this wine with a juicy cheeseburger or venison ribs.
