Booklet Description: 20. Lindau, situated on two islands in the Bodensee, is the central point of trade between Bavaria and Switzerland. Authentic records date back to the ninth century when the town was a Roman camp. The lake is noted for its sudden rise and fall. In 1770, it rose 24 feet above its usual level in less than an hour. This phenomenon has never been explained.
