B Miles - Shaking Hands
Present Future Retroactive: Vol. 1
The internet is a vast and wonderful place, and sometimes we’ve let freshly-minted singles cool off over time. However, in this economy of speed and scale, it doesn’t make their music any less worthy. In short, a great record is a great record. Besides who doesn’t love to reminiscence of better times? Ah, the nostalgia! Covering the freshly-minted and its relative like, we revisit some of our favorites, and among them you might recognize a few familiar faces:
B. Miles - Rude
Brenna Miles certainly made splash with her self-titled EP, and with the force of her howling delivery and her heady R&B emotion, we’re scratching our heads wondering what’s next from the New York singer after her last single “Rude”:

Balun - Años Atrás
Somewhere between the undulating perreo of Puerto Rican export reggaeton and a light, wispy dreaminess, Brooklyn via San Juan’s Nuyorican pop collective makes a fun mash of sweltering tropical beats against a pastiche of pastel-hued textures

Cari Cari - Mapache
Surfy guitar and Afro-Latin percussion meet in the Austrian band Cari Cari’s bewildering track “Mapache”. A thrilling chase of upbeat momentum, the track echoes of a Tarantino-esque production:
Margaux Avril - Something You Can Do
A dreamweaving track inspired by a spring walk in the Parisian night, the dark dusky blues juxtaposes the fumbling quirk of its bass lines and a rush of heavenly emotion through the French singer’s beatifying lift:

Palco - Not Going to Change Me
LA’s Kayleigh Hendricks took us asunder with her roaring vocal prowess on the quirky slide of “Taking Your Time on Me”, but taking a more directed and minimalistic approach with hip-hop influences, she changes the pace with “Not Going to Change Me”

Première Fois - Numéro Uno
French for the “First Time”, visual artist Jordane Saunal and Raphaël D'hervez (of Pegase) met on a beach where they dreamed up a concoction of modern-pop and R&B production which they would term “whale music”. Echoing the gentle cetacean blues, their gentle chimes and frosty glow of vocals gives that oh là là which makes their French single oh-so-seductive:

Sarai - Winner Represent
A bit of hustle and grind from fledgling R&B vocalist Sarai, the track wanders between the snake of her meandering vocal seduction and the intensity of its bassy trap pounce:
