Nick Diaz- Villain or Misunderstood?
Nick Diaz is one of my favorite fighters in MMA. I am not a huge fan of Diaz because of his talent although that is an added bonus. What I love about Nick is his willingness to fight anyone anywhere and his neurotic nature. In today's fight game there are too many GSP's and too many overly respectful fighters. If George St.Pierre is the UFC's white knight, Diaz is definetly its dark knight. Many fans and pundits are taken aback by Diaz's mouth and mannerisims. Many say Nick Diaz is a disrespectful punk. I beg to differ; I believe Diaz knows how to sell a fight, and most importantly be himself.
Nick Diaz is one of the most polarizing fighters in the sport due to his trash talk. The great thing about Nick though, and the reason he has so many fans, is because he backs up his trash talk with fists. With Nick, there is no fake Mr. Nice guy persona, Nick keeps it 100% real, and is a total badass. I disagree with people assertions that Nick is just a disrespectful prick. He showed B.J Penn much respect up to there UFC 137 bout. He praised B.J on his ability and skill. Diaz will not be as respectful to St.Pierre who he has a very publicized beef with. St.Pierre will fight Nick at UFC 143 and Nick has lived up the heel role in order to get the St.Pierre fight.
Penn and Fitch Fight to Majority Draw
I am a little disappointed. Was rooting for Fitch to win this... WTF is a majority draw?
UFC 127 Penn vs Fitch
Two fan favorites go at it tomorrow in the octagon. B.J Penn and Jon Fitch meet up for the first time in UFC history. Jon Fitch a long time running contender for the Welterweight title faces B.J Penn, former Lightweight Champion who moves back up into the welterweight scene. This fight has been a long time coming seeing is how both hold very notable losses to the current reigning welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. How will this play out?
I see Jon Fitch winning easily, he has been on a five fight win streak against notable opponents like Thiago Alves, Ben Saunders and Paulo Thiago, who at one point was a definite contender for the welterweight title after defeating my favorite fighter Mike Swick. Jon Fitch looks prime but in all those fights has not been able to close one out having all fights lead to a unanimous decision.
B.J Penn on the other hand has only one win since coming off two straight losses against Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar, when at a time B.J Penn seemed unbeatable beating the likes of Diego Sanchez and Kenny Florian. This has not been a good move for B.J Penn in the past when he moved back up to welterweight having lost to Georges St. Pierre twice. Although he did knockout UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes.
This actually looks like a good fight card. Other than the main event, you have fights like Michael Bisping vs Jorge Rivera, and George Sotiropoulos vs Dennis Siver. Looks to be a very nice fight card.
UVERproject's Predictions. I got Jon Fitch winning this fight. He is a bigger man, longer reach, he's been pretty unstoppable of late. B.J Penn has had his difficulties with bigger guys even though he is a better striker although Jon Fitch has size and a better wrestler in my opinion. I see this going to the ground even though that's not where most Fitch fights end up.
Soravy's Predictions as Told by Dan I'd say Fitch wins this fight, he's the 2nd ranked Welterweight in the world and fighting at his natural weight class. Penn got lucky in his fight with an over the top hill Hugues who has seen his better days behind him. Penn should lose unless he gets good strikes in. Although Fitch has gone the distance and can most likely gas Penn
