Rory MacDonald vs Paul Daley
If you want an example of how not all moves up in weight classes are the same, I think Rory MacDonald (20-5) is probably the best example. The Bellator Welterweight champion attempted to become a 2 division champion when he faced off with middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi. It was not a good night for RoryMac, who was bloodied and stopped in the 2nd round of the fight.
Thanks to that violent ending, Rory’s involvement in the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix was pushed back a few months to allow his face time to heal. Finally ready to compete again, the Tristar fighter will be competing with fellow UFC veteran and title challenger Jon Fitch (32-7-1). Fitch and MacDonald will headline Bellator 220 this Saturday (April 27), it will be streamed on DAZN.
Jon Fitch contemplates retirement following his exit from Bellator’s welterweight tournament.
If this is really it for Fitch, I wish him well with retirement. Man has had a ridiculously long career and put a lot of names on his resume. One of the best welterweights to do it thus far.
