Author you’ve read the most?
I’ll say Sherrilyn Kenyon purely because her Dark Hunter series is huge (both in book and series length). That’s followed closely by Lori Wick who is the author I’ve reread the most.
I’m going to cheat a little and say that the entire Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead was the best squeal ever (to the Vampire Academy series). I love VA with all my heart and Bloodlines was just a new, exciting adventure with a whole heap of my favourite characters. Everything just kept getting better and better and I’m so glad she wrote a spin-off.
I am currently reading Invincible by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I’m in a bit of a reading slump at the moment (book hungover from The One, thank you Kiera Cass) but Invincible is really good and hopefully will snap me out of it.
Drink of choice while reading?
During the day a big glass of water that I can slowly sip, of an evening I like to settle down with a cup of tea.
E-reader or physical book?
I’m a physical book kinda gal. Nothing against e-readers or those who use them, but if I can get a physical copy of a book that’s how I like to read it. My e-reader is only used for eBook only releases (or books like Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter Academy where there will eventually be a hardcopy but I’m too impatient to wait).
Fictional character you probably would have actually dated?
You want me to pick just one?
Oh alright, I was head-over-heels in love with Ash from Lili St. Crow’s Strange Angels series . . . I would have dated him. <3
In other news, I totally would’ve entered the Selection, fallen in love with Prince Maxon and had my heart shattered into a million pieces when I wasn’t the one. Oh well. Such is life.
Glad you gave this book a chance
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.
Many moons ago, when I was just a young booknerd my best friend recommended this to me.
I pulled a face and told her I just didn’t get Greek mythology.
She laughed and said neither did Percy.
So I read the book.
It was true love.
The Negotiator by Dee Henderson.
Important moment in your reading life?
When my mum went shopping and brought home a copy of Twilight.
I was in year 7, didn’t really connect well with other people (especially other people my age) and had been bouncing between reading children and adult books for about two years.
I devoured Twilight. I loved it. I loved reading about teenagers. I loved reading about the paranormal. I asked for more and the next day she brought home a copy of City of Bones, Vampire Academy and the first two Vampire Beach novels (Bloodlust & Initiation). I discovered the world of young adult books and I fell in love. They gave me confidence, they gave me a sense of being understood and better then that I finally had something I loved and could talk about – with my mum, with people at school.
Over the next few years I’d lose nearly all my friends, be severely bullied and have numerous mental and physical health issues. But through it all I had my books. I had magical worlds where people fought the oppressive governments, the demons, the evil vampires . . . and they won. I had characters who fought hard, who suffered but . . . they survived. It made me think that maybe, just maybe I could do the same.
Whatever made my mum buy Twilight that day, it was an important moment.
Glitter Kiss by Adrianne Ambrose and Monica Gallagher.
Kind of books you won’t read?
Books that are written in languages other than English because that’s the only language I can understand. :( Sorry non-English writers.
Longest book you’ve read?
Either Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon or City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. I know that they were both long but I’m not sure which one was longer.
Major book hangover because of……..
The first three books in The Selection series by Kiera Cass. It was just so good and I can’t wait to read The Heir!
Number of bookcases you own?
Technically I just have one big bookcase in my lounge room.
I use the upper cupboard shelves in my bedroom and my guestroom as bookshelves though. It appears I have more books then clothes. Hmm.
One book you’ve read multiple times?
The Princess by Lori Wick. It will forever be one of my favourite books of all time.
So long as it’s comfortable and quiet(ish) I’m happy.
Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read
“There is more to living than not dying.” - Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess
To be honest the entire Infernal Devices series was full of quotes that inspired me and gave me all the feels.
None that I can currently think of. Normally if I don’t want to read a book I don’t.
Series you started and need to finish?
The Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong. I read and loved all the books from Bitten to Frostbitten but then my senior year happened . . .
The last three books are still on my TBR pile and I hope to get to them very soon.
Three of your all-time favourite books?
The Princess by Lori Wick, The Negotiator by Dee Henderson and The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton.
Unapologetic fangirl for …
Archie Comics. You don’t like them? Your loss.
Very excited for this release more than all the others?
I am super excited for The Heir by Keira Cass because it’s really close! After it comes out my most anticipated release is Dragonbane by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I read the sneak peak for both of these books and they gave me a serious case of grabby hands.
Reading multiple books at a time (a.k.a. really only reading one book at a time but having bookmarks placed in various stages of other books that I was reading before THIS one caught my attention).
x marks the spot: start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book
The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige.
Fun fact: My sister read (and loved) Dorothy Must Die but was banned from bringing it to school because it said ‘die’ in the title. I wonder how they’re going to feel about the wicked rising.
Your latest book purchase?
Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge, I brought it online and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive.
zzz-snatcher book: last book that kept you up way too late?
The One by Kiera Cass. All her books have kept me up to the AMs reading.
The final task, I tag pixelatedfangirl, wiseredhair, b00kwurm, marleedaisleyx, gouldinglow, caryoke and fangirlpages.
Thanks if you read to the end of this lovelies.
