i haven’t wanted to read up more about it honestly because i feel like it’ll just get me down and i don’t know i don’t like thinking about it. so this is based on what little i’ve seen on tumblr and what i’ve understood. i don’t think he did it out of harm and probably just thought it was a good thing and idk, i’m giving him the benefit of the doubt i guess, but i don’t want to defend him either bc.. yeah

i just feel like whatever we think he’s never going to see it anyway so i don’t know how much it matters?? like yeah i’m sort of disappointed personally especially as someone who happens to be autistic but, i also feel like lots of celebrities do semi-problematic things all the time and that it’d be purely unrealistic to expect of him to never fuck up once 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ like people have pointed out, he wasn’t the only one

Hey please don’t feel bad about posting b99 content. If you work hard on something, esp if it’s for Pride, post it. Watching a show about fictional cops doesn’t make you less of an ally. The fictional characters you love doesn’t take away from your support for Black people. I know your hearts in the right place but concern over edits is the lowest priority. Don’t be ashamed of your edits as long as your activism is there.

Hey anon idk if you’re sending this to everyone or if you mixed me up with someone else. I haven’t made an edit since like February because I’m a very lazy person lmao. Just wanted to let you know in case you sent your message to the wrong person.

Regardless of that, I agree with your sentiment. I don’t agree with people shaming creators for posting b99 pride gifsets when that is such a huge and important part of the show. We do this every year and we should be proud that the show we love has representation like that. That being said, I also understand that a lot of people don’t want to see gifs of the show right now and there’s a time and place for everything. I really don’t have a solution for this and what we should and shouldn’t do as fans of the show. In all honesty, I kinda hate how so many people, me included, have spent so much energy on debating this topic. I know that fandom is such a big part of our lives but it honestly seems so unimportant at this moment. Obviously I believe that this discourse needs to be discussed. I’m also super glad that this fandom for the most part has acknowledged that this show is indeed cop propaganda and has delved into what that means and how that can affect the real world. We HAVE to discuss it. We HAVE to look at the media we consume with a critical eye so that we can learn from it. And by learning from it, we can make better and more educated choices of what we want to support and how we want to support it. We have to take this knowledge and reflect on it because what is the point if we don’t. That being said, seeing all the debate on whether or not the show should be cancelled, or whether people are gonna keep watching the show, or whether the cast/writers should do something, or whether b99 fans should be shamed for liking something problematic just feels like noise right now. No one has the correct answers to any of this. The shows not even on right now. We don’t even know when they can start production for season 8. I believe in the importance of discourse and discussion, now more than ever, but I just really hope everyone’s doing their part in this movement and not just worrying about a tv show because believe me, I’m struggling right now with that too.

hey! do you think the casecation episode is as bad as everyone says it to be? like it's not my favorite episode of the series, but also i think most people get triggered by it because of that one line amy had where she said about "startting over"? what do you think?

truly nothing against you anon!! unfortunately debating casecation on this blog gives me war flashbacks to when it originally aired 💀💀💀 so i'm not going to do it... i like casecation, i get why that quote bothers people but i don't think it was an unrealistic thing for her to say and i think it made sense. but i truly can't repeat casecation discourse on here i refuse to do that to myself i'm very sorry 😭

I think both you and anon are right. Like, I can't see the writers having one of the characters consistently say how they're job is the coolest etc. because of all that's happened, and also just to stay on the safe side of the media. But like you said, I can't see them slander their own jobs. Whether Jake decides to make comparisons of his life to Die Hard or not, it won't matter 'cause it's Jake being Jake, and not the show promoting the toxicity of reality.

yeah, precisely. i think die hard comparisons might very much still be a thing because this man named his own SON after die hard and probably references it while he's grocery shopping idk. but they're going to have to find a balance that i hope they do

ok so we know how b99 is gonna do it's best to address police brutality and the system, and i understand why. so does that mean we can expect jake not constantly comparing his job to action movies to make it seem cool? like i don't mean jake stops loving his job, but for the sake of the show, is that something you think the writers have been cautious about for the upcoming season?

i think that's just jake being jake so i really don't know lol. i'd rather not speculate. but if we're realistic it's still a show about police and even if they said they'll address the realities of it more, i think it would also be quite hard to have them all start talking bad about their job and completely change their characters. so i don't know what to expect anon! i'm trusting the writers with it unless they give me reason otherwise. i guess it's possible they would consider it but we'll see
