August 12, 1971 Apollo 15 Commander David Scott at the news conference in Houston TX - USA. Note the blood underneath Scott’s damaged fingernails due to operating the heavy core drill on the Lunar Surface. The Apollo 15 Moonwalkers used double deep-drill core tubes, which were driven as deep as 68 cm by application of extra hammer blows. Astronaut David Scott revealed the fact he placed the “Fallen Astronaut” figurine near the parked Lunar Rover and quoted ancient Greek philosopher “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be lighted.” Also note David Scott had chosen to wear his 1969 Gold Apollo XI tribute Omega Speedmaster chronograph, which he received in November 1969.
