It still bothers me a lot when I asked my mom if she would have ever considered allowing me to transition if I had came out to her while I was still a minor and she said no.
Even when I added the caveat of “what if you went back in time knowing what you know now, knowing for sure I was gonna do it anyways as an adult because I knew who I was and you knew I was suffering going through female puberty, would you have relented and allowed me to transition?” And honestly? I don’t think she really tried to answer that one, I can’t remember her giving an answer other than a noncommittal sound.
It’s hard to have such a complicated relationship with your parents. I go back and forth on if I love my parents or if I’m just dealing with them misgendering me 90% of the time so they can financially help me not end up homeless or in debt while I’m trying to actually start being an adult, especially in this fucking economy where it’s virtually impossible to get a job that pays even poverty wages with a college degree and even harder to move out anywhere.
This has been a rant to make me feel better lol
Trans person with complicated familial relationship, what a shocker, fork found in kitchen
