This morning before school, my daughter played and sang a song spontaneously about her being a mermaid who swam to the shore and found a baby there. It was such a beautiful, musical and magical moment between her and her younger brother. Have a guess what song Joli was playing on the glockenspiel? See the contentment in her expressions after she played the tune? It wasn’t a perfect performance but it didn’t matter to her. Musical boos fade away and they don’t last. Music brings joy and plenty of health-related benefits. You may ask if I taught her to play the tune? I did- but she didn’t learn from me because she is too young to receive formal music education. Her brother might have taught her using his self-created #colourcodedmusicnotation. I would say, she learnt it by herself, from observations, explorations, and practising whenever she wanted to.
