Bachman’s Warbler, Vermivora bachmanii, described in the 1980 edition of Peterson’s field guide as “the rarest North American songbird.” Now largely considered extinct.
Drawtober remembering extinct birds day 1: Bachman’s Warbler
pictured are many taxidermy specimens of the believed to be extinct bachman’s warbler. as the last uncontroversial sighting of the species was in the 1960s, it is believed that the species has been completely extirpated, but some believe that as the species was rare and reclusive to begin with, a few individuals may remain. little is known about the species, native to north america & cuba.
“Warbler” (2022) by me.
When I saw all the nice comments on my previous wikipedia poem, “Woodpecker”, especially by @headspace-hotel, I cried. It inspired me to write another. Sorry about the formatting. I’m bad at ms Paint.
Tumblr only lets you put 10 images properly on a post but this poem has 11, so the last one won’t click-through as part of a set. You’re going to have to open it separately. #justTumblrthings
