the canada warbler is a small, brightly colored songbird found across the americas (spending summers in canada & the northeastern united states, and migrating to spend winters in northern south america.) this small warbler is also sometimes known as the ‘necklaced warbler’ due to the unique streaked markings circling the bird’s neck. although there is minimal sexual dimorphism, the male’s ‘necklace’ is darker and more prominent than the female’s. the underside of the bird is a cheerful yellow apart from the neck markings, with the bird’s back being a dark grey. they also have prominent white eyerings giving the birds a ‘spectacled’ look. they are primarily insectivorous, feeding on beetles, moths, flies and caterpillars among other insects. their diet is also supplemented by arthropods, snails, and fruits. although the species is currently described as of least concern by the IUCN, they are experiencing population decline due to threats like habitat fragmentation and overgrazing by deer.
I got my butt in gear & took photos of all the creatures/vessels from my last kild load, so get ready for a BUNCH of finished work!!
