Another day at sea, another day of classes! 4 more days till we all arrive in our last country of Morocco! I do have a lot of work to catch up on and turn in before we arrive in Casablanca. Well today in my poverty class, we talked about rural urbanization and trade and aid. Im pretty excited to go on my field trip with my professor in Morocco. After, we went to lunch quickly because we had our global studies midterm next. I went to my friends room so we could do some last minute cramming before failing lol. So we went off to take our global studies midterm. I dont know how I did lol, but lets just say I have never done so much guessing until I got into this class. The grade doesnt transfer to my school, so I dont think it matters to much. I just need to pass lol. Then in my international management class we talked about corporate and international strategies of companies. Then in my water for the world class, we went over our schedule for the rest of the voyage and talked about desalinization, which is the purification system our ship uses. Today there was a silent and live auction, which all the funds goes to scholarships and financial aid for Semester At Sea. All the items were donated by students and faculty. There were items as small as food and chocolate, to someone donating their skill of packing your bags, to like vacation homes in China and all over the world. The silent auction went on all day until about 7:30pm. The live auction went on from 8-10pm. I was going to bid for someone to pack my bags at the end of the voyage, but apparently that was a hot commodity and everyone wanted their bags packed lol. My friend and I went around the silent auction to see if we wanted anything towards the end of it, but people were pretty competitive with the bidding. I was also going to bid on all the photos and videos taken by our professional photographer and videographer too. If only I was rich lol. Then we went into the live auction, where they talked about being an alumnus and what scholarships and financial aid does for us. Apparently the ship costs $80,000 a day to operate. Thats crazy! Some girl went up and talked about how without financial aid and scholarships, she wouldnt be able to be on this voyage. Then the live bidding started! Some of the items were like dining with the Captain, honking the horn when we arrive in Boston, giving the last announcement over the intercom, dance lessons, vacation homes from all over the world, Internet minutes, reunion voyage, and upgrade of your cabin. Some people were going crazy over the bidding lol it was pretty exciting to watch. After my friend and I got together to start working on our 7 page group paper for international management thats due in 2 days! Ahhh!! After we worked on it for about an hour, I went back to my room to finish one of my papers for poverty and politics class. Ive never had so many papers and presentations due within the same 2 weeks. It was a good thing we are gaining hours going to Morocco. We gained an hour tonight, so that was good. One more hour for homework and sleep!
