Have you ever thought about how the "trips" each group takes kinda says something about the difference in the home situations through out the generations, like the Beach, Camping and Morocco. I've heard people say that generation 3 kids were rich compared to the other seasons, but I think that's mainly because gen 2 showed already broken families and gen 1 showed them kinda falling apart. I'm thinking this was on purpose since gen 3 has far from perfect families but they still stuck together.

Generation 3: Alo and Mini are poor/lower middle class, Rich, Liv, and Franky are middle class, Grace, Nick & Matty are upper middle class/rich. 

Broken Families: Matty, Nick, Liv, Mini, Franky (originally). 

Generation 2:  Naomi, Cook,  Thomas, Emily, and Katie are poor/lower middle class. Effy, JJ, Pandora, Freddie are Middle Class/Upper Middle Class. 

Broken Families: Cook, Naomi, Effy, Pandora. 

Generation 1: 

Tony, Sid, Michelle, and Cassie are middle class/upper middle class. Maxxie, Anwar, Chris, are lower middle class/poor. Jal is rich. 

Broken Families: Sid, Michelle, Chris, and Jal. 

So no. I don't think the trips really show the money situation of the Generation. Because Gen 3 worked over the summer to raise money to go. Then for Generation 3 they had a convenient in with Rider who supplied a place to stay. I don't feel like Generation 3 had the most stable home lives of all the generations either. I think that the writers just wanted them to go some place rather epic. Plus Generation 1 had two trips a school trip to Russia and the beach. So I honestly feel like it was writer's choice oppose to reality based. Each Generation I think has a good mix of strong families and weak families. Poorer families and more affluent as well.

already confirmed that Nick will not being involved because of his schedule and other projects. I’m thinking Alo and Mini will probably be shown as well as Rich and Franky. Nicks plot line seemed to smooth out better then the rest, aside from Matty.

I know that Nick Hoult is confirmed to not be in the specials. I have not heard that Sean Teale has also confirmed he will not return. 

Nick never got a story line for himself. It would be nice to see him come into his own. Fully. 

I am going to do some massive research today and make a master list of all the updates. But I have yet to hear anything about Sean Teale. The only person I know who isn't returning for Gen 3's special is Seb (Matty)

I think I finally cracked this nut, I believe each of the "main" characters from Skins had an observer complex :) They are all separate from the group being either being in charge/control/ahead(Tony), admired/aloof/involved(Effy) or new/different/distant(Franky). Each of them were only ones aware of everything that was going on, Franky is the best example of this, they become aware of their lack of control over their own fate, so they try using themselves and actions or other people to handle it

So weird I was having a conversation about the observer complex the other day. I agree. This is dead on. It can also be explained with three different personality disorders as well. Along with complexes. 

It's all fascinating.

Seriously, though Hardlet is a couple I can write about forever. I think many people feel the same way. They are just so beautiful.

I think Freddie is an example of people who use love to escape from the harshness or reality rather then Cook who sort of embraces the harsh. Effy who was already trying to escape couldn't be pulled any further away from reality couldn't handle the situation in the same way Cook couldn't handle her not loving him. They're both reactions to people who felt abandoned and un-loved. The way people loved Effy crushed her, kinda how Franky was being crush by the Levans. Which triangle do you prefer?

I agree about Cook. He is a guy who embraces the harsh and says what needs to be said even it hurts and grabs life by the horns. Even if it hurts. Freddie's main instinct is to one, to not care (aimless/passiveness), and channeled his energy into Effy. As another form of escape he glamorized love in many ways I think. Then when him and Effy got together he was intense. Cook is also intense, but he allows Effy to have space. Effy may have underlying issues of abandonment; however, I think the main thing with Effy is that she has an untreated psychological disorder. Series 1 and her Mom's statements suggest it. 

Franky is a more contextualized fear of abandonment. Meaning through her lived experiences she has developed defenses that lead to more harm than good. She gets involved with two brothers who compete for her. Nick is Cook in this instance in that he does allow Franky to have space (until Matty comes back). Whereas Matty is intense and won't let go. Matty may have also been using Franky for escape in some ways. 

I honestly do not like many triangle story lines. Especially if they are dragged out. However despite the fact that Effy/Cook/Freddie triangle lasted two series basically I loved it better than Franky/Levan Brothers. Mainly due to the fact that Skins laid down a foundation for it and people became extremely invested in the triangle. Franky's love triangle was not developed and most of the fandom stopped caring about Matty. 

So I definitely prefer the Effy/Cook/Freddie triangle. Though I prefer the ending of Franky's triangle. Choosing mental health and individual needs over a boy. I dig that.

Yes I'm excited! I wanna see what happened with some of the characters, even though I really like the open endings. I wonder if they'll have cross overs to connect and clean up some of the stories. Also I really like Effy's story because there are alot of people like that and younger people who grow up with support and lose it when they need it most. I don't know why someone would want to go through want she did, but people tend to glamorize her like they do to alot of celebs an "popular" people

It is true. Many people may relate to her and if they do that is awesome. Especially if they see the reality of what Effy's storyline should have been about. 

There are so many girls though...(and honestly I feel like this would be less so if Kaya wasn't so beautiful...and Jack and Luke weren't so good looking as well)...that want to be her. Losing her mind. Loss. Self-harm. All of it. Which freaks me out and the way they shot it and wrote it. They did not show the breakdown  for what it is...ugly...they shot it as beautiful. In my opinion. 

The SPECIALS should be interesting. I am prepared though to disregard if necessary. Need to prepare, but for the most part I'm pretty excited about it. *JUMPS*

Effy played off the image of things, even in the start of series 3 she was always watching people and being careful about everything that she was doing. When she fell in love she couldn’t be careful and distant and that is why she lost it.

I have heard this interpretation and I have also heard many other interpretations. It is definitely interesting and  I would be lying if I said that Effy was boring. She definitely is a meaty and complex character that is for sure. 

Regardless of the interpretation though I'm still worried about what Effy represents. With the toxic co-dependent relationship that developed between her and Freddie. Then using her beauty to destroy things. It is obvious from the beginning of Series 3 and even in Generation 1 that there is something about Effy that seemed lost. I don't mind her being lost and I also do not mind her having a psychological disorder. It just irked me how they wrote everyone's reaction to her and how they wrote certain relationships she had. From a societal perspective. 

I understand to a point Effy's motives and actions, but how she was portrayed and related to was quite worshipping. Not just by some fans either. By the characters on the show as well.

Agreed, kinda like how Nick was to his date. also… are you excited for the promise of an ep for each gen in 2012, or not?

I'm cautiously excited about it. I think that it could be really good! A chance to see the Gen 1 characters and even the Gen 3 character one more time is always an attractive notion. 

I do though feel like they could mess with things that didn't need to be messed with in order to make an interesting story. I'm one of those people who don't mind a show ending when it naturally should, because when things get dragged on sometimes the characters begin to get distorted. So I am worried about that. 

Then at the same time I am like. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRING IT!!!!!
