This time last year I did a little solo mission across good ol’ Dr Pacific, only to land on a tiny island where I bumped into old mates and made some new ones. Oh, and waves were ok, too. With everyone doing their 10 year challenge photos, I wanted to share this, a little late but I’m pretty proud of it. In high school, I had a couple of injuries and for the following years needed multiple surgeries on both knees. I had to wear a brace of some kind under my pants in my last 3 years of school, and sold the surfboard I’d bought myself. Bodyboarders had been my heroes as a grom, and as I worked on strengthening the knees I worked out that when I locked them at 90 degrees in dropknee, they were pretty stable for me. The top shot is recovery after an op, the bottom shot is scooping in on my last trip to Samoa. Still learning, still trying to work my way through every type of surfcraft, still grateful for the support from some great companies, and still got a lot of great guys to look up to in this little #Jackstance family.
