No offense, but you’d make a terrible reporter.

I know this is a very minor criticism compared to the racism, transphobia, genocide apologism, legitimising of fascist violence etc but something else I've noticed about the BBC recently is they just do not bother putting any effort into any article relating to the railways
So many use outdated images, muddle simple details, and often outright just act as a platform for opponents to any rail project - see this one for example in which the 'analysis' from the BBC completely derails the focus of the article to talk about roads instead https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2mnz9xejyo - as a transport advocate it pisses me off no end
Look ofc there are bigger and smaller issues but those are features of subpar journalism! the news that peddles itself as peak journalism and objective fact to keep people informed invested in its representation of issues should not be muddling details or using misleading images! I don't have the knowledge of rails or transportation infrastructure generally to add much to this but I welcome any details.
The aforementioned "analysis" on an article headlined "Railway sorely in need of investment, study finds" is below for the curious.
So about that “frosty relationship”...
I’ve been having a number of discussions/asks come in about this. First of all, we know it’s bullshit because we’ve seen EXTREMELY strong evidence to the contrary with our own eyes. But also, may I remind you that:
The same story was submitted to 3 different papers at the same time (update), which means someone had an agenda
Martin is living in Belsize now
Which is an 8 minute drive from Benedict’s digs (which are in Dartmouth Park)
A distance estimator on Google Maps says that this is about 2.5 miles as the crow flies, a little more by road (we don’t have the exact addresses, but this is from park to park the areas are named for).
Benedict has been seen coming out of what people believe to be Martin’s new place (though if it’s Martin’s is up for debate - it’s still a strange coincidence)
And...
Martin lives in Belsize, Ben lives in Dartmouth. So why is Martin wearing this in several of his new interviews?
He doesn’t live there. He doesn’t support teams that live there.... so... he’s just particularly fond of Dartmouth?
All News Sources: EVERYONE'S FREAKING OUT ABOUT PRESIDENT TRUMP'S TIE!!!!
Me, over here, by myself: Can we talk about the numerous executive orders created these past couple days that push forward the Dakota Access Pipeline, push Congress to trash the ACA with all haste, and the planned executive order of the building of the Wall? Also, I don't know much about the TTIP, so can a reputable source educate me on the pros and cons, even though another executive order has already been signed that pulls us out of it?
All News Sources: THE INTERNET IS BLOWING UP WITH MEMES FROM THE INAUGURATION! HERE ARE THE 20 BEST ONES SO FAR!
This pisses me off so much. Can you imagine a headline that said "[insert Christian polititian here] leans into their faith during Christmas."
It's just blatant Islamophobia.
why state a fact when you can falsely imply experts are lying 🤪
As soon as someone writes something like "as illegal/crazy/absurd as Trump's idea is, it gets at something fundamental/important/misunderstood about [topic]," I check out.
You do not need to bend over backwards to find the brilliance in a stupid, illegal, absurd idea.
You should not use a budding fascism to promote your own particular pet idea or project.
There is no good reason to make bad ideas seem good just because they come from someone with power.
If he had actual good ideas, acknowledging that would be acceptable, if a little losing of the forest for the trees. But taking bad ideas and sanewashing them is unethical.
Not least, it gives the impression that there is legitimate debate about these ridiculous ideas, when there is not. Tariffs don't do what he says. Buying Greenland is both not an option and a bad idea. Occupying Gaza is worse. Appointing RFK Jr. to head HHS is actively destructive. Etc.
Your commentary should not be stenography for the apologetics of a mad would-be tyrant.
