I mean whats wrong with Muscular toku ?
Well, when the original version of the character looks like this:
And the Action Figure version looks like this:
That’s when I have a problem with it.
If a character starts out super buff, then I have no problem with the toy being super buff as well. It’s when you take someone lean and agile and make a representation of them that’s hugely, almost grotesquely muscular with a tiny waist, barrel chest and arms with biceps as large as their thighs that I take issue.
Yes, that’s kind of the American superhero ideal (thanks to some really bad art in the comics) but its not what you see on screen. This is why I tend to avoid buying Power Rangers merchandise, it doesn’t accurately reflect the characters I want to own versions of.
Don’t even get me started on what they do with the roleplay toys. Their version of the Gokaiger Mobirates was a JOKE!
