I'm really disappointed in myself. I asked for an extension on my physics test so I could try and prepare, and despite "trying" I didn't study hardly at all, and I hadn't been paying attention in class where I should've been, so now I know there is no hope of me getting a good grade on this test. At this point, I will be pleased if i get over 50%. My grade (already a C) is going to drop and I don't know if I will be able to get it back up.
There comes a point where you know that no matter how much harder you try, you've set yourself up for failure, and sometimes, it's best to move on and do well somewhere where you know you can succeed if you put in the effort rather than throwing bricks at a wall that will never come down.
While it is taking longer than planned (real life interferes), progress continues to be made on Lightsabers are Always Loaded.
Here is an excerpt from Mara’s first formal private lesson with Master Skywalker. Neither one of them are really in a place for success right about then...
Following Skywalker’s instructions, I breathed deeply and reached out to the Force as I had done before. Like on Wayland and Dromund Kaas, I could sense the trickle of power. It raised the hair on my arms and felt like a tiny burst of the universe blossoming inside me. Everything felt a bit more when the Force was cooperating: colours brighter, sounds more defined, edges cleaner. I fought to hold on to that feeling.
Easy for him to say. And sure enough, as the thought crossed my mind, the Force slipped out of my mental grasp and flitted away, like it was laughing at me.
I slumped forward and rubbed my hands across my forehead in frustration before glancing up at Skywalker. He was frowning, sharp lines visible between his eyebrows.
“You definitely have a solid sense of the light,” he said, “but you need to strengthen your connection to it.”
He glanced up at his desk then and I could see a blinking light on his comm unit. There were messages waiting for him - and based on the speed of the flashing, quite a number of them.
“I have paperwork to catch up on,” he continued, “take the next hour before lunch and meditate on your connection to the Force. See if you can make it broader and stronger, more open. You need to relax.”
He got to his feet then and stood expectantly until I finally realized I was being dismissed.
Meditate on my connection with the Force?
“Okay,” I said, nonplussed, “where should I go to meditate?” I was skeptical of managing much of it, but I was determined to try.
His smile was positively beatific: “Wherever the Force calls you.”
My return smile was strained to the point of being more of a grimace, and I bowed sourly in acknowledgement of my new instructions. I did manage to avoid a surly “Yes Master,” despite the intense temptation. It would not have been well received.
Shut out of Skywalker’s office, I found myself wandering again. The notion the Force was going to call me to some calm idyllic meditation spot was laughable. If the Force was calling me somewhere, things there were in bad shape.
Are studyblr users romanticizing studying too much?
So many people try to make their study sessions look like this super aesthetic and fulfilling time it just looks like a commercial trying to sell markers.
Studying is pretty mundane so for the people that struggle with studying and keeping up with school it probably isn't very healthy.
I would like to say that learning about studyblr totally helped me. I looked for a place where I could dedicate myself to study comfortably without distractions and made me despise some subjects little less for at least a while.
So yeah maybe don't get anxious because of people showing their beautiful notes, tidy tables and straight As.
