has everyone noticed how all the corpo platforms have implemented Shit Changes all at the same time lol?
tumblr's (apparently changed things; i don't see what the change is but i also use extensions so my experience is already different from Default anyway), reddit fucked their shit look like a mobile app, youtube change the controls interface at the bottom of videos (and also made some HIDEOUS ass like/dislike button icons.. what's wrong with those hands?)
can we PLEASE stop collectively fucking everything. it's time to crawl back to Indie Web, guys, this mainstream shit is for the sewers.
Those AliExpress ads are STILL doing that thing where it opens the ad link when all I am doing is trying to scroll past it in the app. It is really killing my experience of using the app. Like PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS @staff ??
Your Gear Shifter Stinks: A Love Letter to When PRNDL Actually Meant Something
the design/ui of the profile page from instagram’s update is wonky and ugly and i hate it
There is no worse way to persuade me to use an AI assistant than to try to foist it on me when I'm receiving a call on my phone. Today Android tried to get me to use the Gemini AI assistant to answer a phone call. Google probably does not appreciate how the sound of my phone ringing sends me into panic about whether I can fish it out of my bag fast enough. So then I fish it out, and instead of the usual Answer / Decline buttons there is an unfamiliar screen that asks me to try Gemini. For what? To answer the phone for me? That's the height of absurdity. And then I had to figure out how to get rid of the Gemini screen and get to the usual Answer button before the phone stopped ringing. That's a really moronic UX.
I'm getting really irritated/frustrated with so many apps lately, just changing back settings that I specifically spent a good amount of precious time/spoons troubleshooting to figure out what to disable, when an app decides to hoodeink us with a new behaviour/asshole design UX update
And yes you guessed it the latest asshole app in question is YouTube - it has decided to open on autoplay shorts again despite me telling it not to.
Curses and fogs to the man who created this Inescapable Unmuted Short-form Video Content In Our Faces 24-7 Madness
TikTok is honestly a pox upon internetkind, if not mankind (seeing as we live in an increasingly digital world). At least Vine kept it in its pants for goodness sakes. Listem SFVC has a time and a place but TikTok has just taken short-form video content and SPRINTED with it, turning it into a virus, the pandemic of the internet if you will. Thrust upon many an unwilling participant. (If you have seen what they did to the Twitch mobile app you understand my despair - just for context: literally everyone hates it)
We deserve long-form content back so I can drink my coffee in peace without having to keep changing to a new short video all the while
I for one don't want more addictive algos. It was hard enough tryna get/stay on task as it is
