Bad Packaging Examples

1. Kellogg’s Corn Flakes (Amazon website)

In my opinion, this packaging is not successful because of the big rooster that first catches your eye. It takes the attention away from the product and if I didn’t know what corn flakes were I would probably be very confused about what is this product. The colours, as well, are not compatible, if the rooster was in yellow maybe it would be better.

2. Maynards Bassetts Jelly Babies (Amazon website)

I think that this packaging definitely isn’t appropriate for the audience. The title is wrong by itself and paired with this illustrations, I just think it is not working. The colours are fine because it is supposed to reach out to children so it is colourful and bright.

3. Celebrations candy (ASDA)

The fact that makes me feel like this packaging is not working is the name. I think they tried too hard with the different letters because there is already a picture of all candy that is inside. I just think there was no need to make every letter different because it just looks unprofessional.

4. Coconut oil with Argan for hair & skin (Superdrug)

I think that this not a successful packaging. It is not terrible, but I think it could have been done better. It is an oil for hair and skin and it looks like some kind of a medicine. The combination of colours they used gives that effect. Maybe if the container was some different colour (black or gold) it would look much better.

5. Sanex shower gel

This packaging looks a little bit too ‘boring’ for me, it looks like a cleaning detergent, not a shower gel. I think it needs a little bit more colours and maybe a different shape of a bottle.
