I went back to see what post it was and honestly I recently signed up for uni so it's making me hope I might find a way to get my life together too lol

good luck! i live on campus so statistically we make more friends etc. it’s just a lot easier. i opened my door whenever i was in it, made sure to knock on doors to offer tea when i was making it, invited people to watch the olympics, sat with new people at dinner, made a group chat etc. be proactive from the get go. you’re going to be out of your element and creating a new one from scratch. so be the best person you can be, be authentic to yourself, be kind but take no shit, forgive yourself any past mistakes from high school and start a new part of your life on a high note. also people will assume you have more of your life together if they see you make your bed. it’s random but true.

נתקלת בפוסט בפייסבוק לפיו שרת הבריאות הבלגית, מגי דה בלוק, "טוענת שצריך להעמיד לדין הורים אשר מגדלים את ילדיהם כטבעונים".*לגיטימי להעביר ביקורת על אמירה כזאת. אפשר לחיות בצורה בריאה לחלוטין על דיאטה טבעונית. הייתם מצפים שהדיון בפוסט הזה יעסוק בטבעונות. אבל לא. מסתבר שלכבוד השרה, על אף שלמדה רפואה באוניברסיטה החופשית של בריסל ועסקה כרופאה במשך 25 שנים (!)**, אין זכות לדבר בכלל על רפואה.כי היא שמנה.ובאמת שהתגובות על הפוסט, המובאות לעיל, מדברות בעד עצמן.

הנה כמה פיסות מידע כללי:1. למקרה שהתמונות בפוסט הזה לא שיכנעו אתכם - שמנופוביה קיימת.***2. משקל עודף יכול להיגרם מקשת של סיבות, מגנטיקה דרך טיפולים תרופתיים ועד מחלות של ממש (גופניות או נפשיות). ****3. מגי דה בלוק נאבקה עם המשקל שלה כל חייה, ובשלב מסויים החליטה שחשוב לה יותר להיות שמחה.*****

כמה עובדות על עצמי:רוב חיי אני שמנה. המשקל שלי ליווה אותי במשך הרבה תקופות. דרך דיאטה ודרך עיסוק קבוע בספורט (בתור ילדה שיחקתי בקביעות ובמשך שנים בטניס שולחן, ואז בטניס - ואפילו זכיתי בתחרויות; כיום אני עוסקת בדוגווקינג שבאופן טבעי מצריך פעילות גופנית יומיומית). המשקל העודף שלי נגרם ממכלול של סיבות, בין היתר רפואיות (היפותירואידיזם). יד ביד עם המשקל, גם השמנופוביה ליוותה אותי כל חיי. מתוך הבית ומחוצה לו. בריונות, לעג, או פשוט ביקורת והטלת ספק ביכולות שלי כל עוד אני במשקל עודף.

אני שמנה. אני לא נחותה. אני לא אדם סוג ז'. לאנשים רזים אין עליונות מוסרית (או מכל סוג אחר) עליי.

get a ps4!! i got one last year and it was a good decision. if it’s an indulgence you feel like you can afford it’s worth it. in my case i had a macbook so had no other way of playing most games, and since then i’ve been able to play what i want and it’s great

it's not a cheap console but you can get away with the 500gb one and don't need a pro etc etc. and then we can be friends on the ps4 network which does absolutely nothing beneficial as far as i can tell except let you compare achievements lmao

^ that too i was so sick of not being able to play stuff bc it wasn't available for mac. i think there's been... maybe once i've wanted to play a game but couldn't on ps4 lol

ahhh those are good reasons, also it would be a good opportunity for me to finally get rid of my ps2 that’s for some reason still in my room, even though i am not even nostalgically playing any of my old ps2 games

I definitely get why you’d be way more bothered than I am at the mistake. My name is very common here but it just has two different spellings. I’ve never had to deal with anyone mispronouncing it, so it bothers me only a tiny bit when it’s misspelled. If I was still living in the US I bet I’d be pissed if people kept calling me “Mey-ah”, which has happened. But also. It’s written right in front of them. Just ADD THE EXTRA LETTER. It’s ONE letter.

Nah, I get you!! Yeah the worst part is it’s right in front of them! How do they not?? notice?? Or do they see it and just choose to not do it anyways omg. Also hahahah idk about the way I handled it but sometimes you just get too fed up and snap loll

Idk people I’ve been working with have constantly misspelled my name (in a text group where the title has my correctly spelled name in it) but their incorrect spelling is actually just an alternative spelling of my name that some people use so???? I’d kinda feel rude correcting them

you’d be totally in the right to correct them. It’s your name and you deserve respect and for them to have it spelled right. If it doesn’t bother you, that’s another thing.

In my case, I get misspellings of my name all the time. Allllll the time. I’m fed up with people not bothering to take the two seconds to double check their spelling of POC names. It’s basic respect. Plus I don’t want to add to the culture of people not thinking they need to spell POC names right because it’s not “usual” or not westernized.
