So I come with a fic rec.
Yesterday I needed something to take my mind off things and so I started to read this fic which I had stumbled upon and loaded onto my Kobo but not yet read. It was absolutely breathtaking and made me oversleep on a workday because I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. Imagine then my surprise to see that it was an old fic and had less than 200 kudos. What.
It is Cherik and set in 1920s and it is gorgeous. It reads like a noir movie and you can just breathe it in and hear the jazz. The author has put a lot of focus and effort on creating the perfect setting for the time period, the language and slang is on the point, the world building is vast, the characters are well-written and storyline is intriguing.
So give it a chance! Although do note the warnings/tags...
