You barely awaken from your slumber, your gaze landing on the digital clock on your nightstand. It’s only 2:36. You could have sworn you had been woken up by a sound, though you didn’t hear anything right now. You shrug it off and turn onto your other side, ready to fall back asleep.
Right before sleep takes over again, you feel the mattress weigh down a little next to you, and a familiar scent takes over your senses. The clean smell of body wash, the slightly sweet and musky smell of your boyfriend’s own scent. Two lean, strong arms wrap around your waist and pull you against his tall frame. You smile drowsily, almost too tired to react at all.
“Hmm... I thought you couldn’t sleep over today because you had practice until deep in the night...” you whisper, your hand finding his and lacing your fingers together.
“I did, but we finished earlier and I didn’t want to sleep alone...” Jinyoung’s soft, slightly husky voice was like honey in your ear as he pressed his nose against your neck, his soft, black hair which was still damp from his shower tickling your skin a little. You giggle and turn in his arms, now facing him.
“Good. Because I missed you,” you say with a little pout. He smirks and kisses your pout instantly. You knew that would work, it always did.
oh my god i love your writings so much can i please req 5& 23 (fluff)with jinyoung thank you soooo muchhh
prompt: all fluff (#5) “Are you warm enough?” & (#23) “I guess time flies when you’re with somebody you love.”
summary: the one where jinyoung slips his tongue and finally tells you the l-word
“There,” Jinyoung wraps you in a blanket–third one to be exact. “Are you warm enough?” He asks meekly. Without even turning to look at you, he plops himself down on the couch as well.
Jinyoung has always been shy, you’ll give him that. So it was always you who inititated something–through words. While him on the other hand, he settled for gestures. Which is why the rest of your group bailed on the both of you for tonight’s supposed weekly Friends marathon. Because let’s face it, there really is something between the both of you but none of you seem to want to say those exact words in order to finally turn your friendship into something else.
You open your arms and drape the blanket over Jinyoung, enclosing the both of you in its warmth. “There,” you tell him. “I’m warm now.” You smile at him and lay your head to rest on his shoulder. You don’t see it, but he smiles too. Strangely enough, there were smiles that didn’t need to be seen in order to be felt. For someone as shy as Jinyoung, you knew too well of this fact. You never needed to actually see him smile to know he was smiling–because he always was, whenever he’s with you.
A few hours later and the both of you were already on the last episode of Season 8. “Oh?” You blurt out in surprise. “We’re already done with the entire season?” Emphasizing on the word entire.
“I guess time flies when you’re with somebody you love,” Jinyoung says it so fast it was almost as if a sudden gush of wind just went through your ear.
“What?” You turn to face him, poking him on his stomach. “What did you just say, Bae Jinyoung?” You tease him further, wiggling your eyebrows.
He gasps, obviously out of panic and embarrassment. As if what he said wasn’t planned at all, it just came out–naturally. “I said what I said,” he brushes you off by covering your entire face with the blanket.
“Hey!” You yell at him, trying to untangle yourself out of the blankets. “You love me,” you bring your face closer to his, cupping his entire face that snugs itself perfectly within your hands. “Well lucky for you…I love you too.”
“What?” He asks, now turning to finally meet your eyes–his red face now evident thanks to the television’s light. Cute, really. You could’ve kissed his cheeks right then and there.
“I said what I said, Jinyoung. Took us long enough,” you say with a cheeky smile as you press play on the first episode of Season 9, cuddling closer to him–not wanting to end this night with Jinyoung just yet.
“Go home now, okay?” her hands reached for his cheeks again, pinching them softly. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Jinyoung was so tired.
He tried not to fall asleep as he waited for the bus. He just finished taking his extra courses, and it was already half an hour to midnight. To be honest, he couldn’t even care less about the upcoming final exams. He wasn’t sure whether he really listened or just pretended to be awake in the classroom. His head was too dizzy to make out anything.
And there he was, at the bus, somehow trying to keep his eyes open as he waited for the bus to take him home and someone to accompany.
“Did you wait long? I’m sorry!”
Jinyoung’s eyes fluttered open as he heard a familiar voice exclaimed from a close distance, along with footsteps getting near. He turned to the left, seeing the person he had been waiting for running towards him, looking just as tired as he was. Her face was covered in sweats despite the cold wind. A smile formed on his face at the sight of her.
“I didn’t, don’t worry,” he assured, patting the girl’s head as she stood next to him.
“I’m so tired,” she said, yawning then leaning on her boyfriend’s chest, also struggling to keep her eyes open. She was just as tired as he was. He put his hand on her head, slowly stroking her hair, letting the sleepiness drift her away from reality despite the fact that they were standing up waiting for the bus.
There weren’t any people but the two of them in the bus stop that night. Ironically, people in the neighborhood seemed to be asleep already. Sometimes jinyoung wondered why did he have to take this much studying, but the pressure of his parents expecting him to get accepted in the best university in town was too strong, he couldn’t just shake it off. He couldn’t exactly do anything but obeyed to attend more classes, which he hardly ever pay attention to.
Jinyoung let a sigh escaped his lips as the bus finally came. He squeezed his girlfriend’s hand and she woke up, only to fall back asleep as soon as she sat on the bus.
Jinyoung chuckled, then sighed again as he sat down next to her. Having her to fall asleep in the bus means that he had to stay awake to make sure they wouldn’t miss their stop. But it’s okay. She was tired. Although he was too, but he let this slide just because he liked her a lot.
The had only been together for a couple weeks. Jinyoung questioned his decision at first, knowing that it was his busiest school year but there he was, attempting a relationship with a girl he had been liking for quite some time. But then he didn’t regret it. It felt nice to go through this together with her, cheering one another. When he was tired, she was his energy.
He felt really soft seeing her sleep so peacefully on their way home. They weren’t the only ones in the bus, but the ride was incredibly silent as the other passengers might also be as tired as they were. Jinyoung tried to endure the torturing exhaustion. If they miss their stop in the middle of the night, it’d be his fault.
"Hey," Jinyoung tapped on her shoulder lightly. she murmured a reaction, showing him that she's listening. "Lean on me. Lean on my shoulder if you want to sleep."
She was too sleepy to argue, so she just did as she was told.
He let out a small laugh. The small things about her were so cute. He intertwined their hands, hoping that they wouldn't be separated for a long time. He was starting to fall more for this girl.
Unexpectedly, she held his hand back tight, smiling in her sleep. Jinyoung couldn't even be sure if his girlfriend was really sleeping or not, but for sure, the small gesture made him happy. He smiled wider, feeling his heart thumping loud against his chest, silently praying she couldn't hear it.
He was falling for her and nothing couldn't stop him. He didn't want to let go of her hand. The ride was peacefully silent and he enjoyed every second of it. The sleepiness tortured him, but the soft grip of her hands on his gave him enough strength. He didn't want to let go.
The ride finally came to an end, stopping at a familiar bus stop sign for the two of them. Jinyoung moved his shoulder slowly, trying to wake her up.
"Hey, we're here," he patted her head lightly. "We're here, we're here. We're home."
"What do you mean we're home, you mean you're home. I literally have to walk three more blocks from the stop," she complained as she opened her eyes slowly.
Jinyoung chuckled again seeing his grumpy girlfriend. "Just wake up, sleepyhead. It's time to get off."
And just like that, they got off the bus together.
Then there they were, at the bus stop in the middle of the silent neighborhood. Jinyoung didn't have to take a long walk to his house from the bus stop, but she had to walk three more blocks to actually reach her house. Seeing his tired girlfriend, Jinyoung clung his arm around her shoulders, before dragging her to the direction completely opposite from the one he was supposed to take.
She realized it a bit too late. "Wait, wha-Jinyoung! Where are we going? What are you doing?"
Jinyoung shrugged, keep dragging her along. "I'm walking you home."
"No way!" She stopped walking, removing his arm from her shoulders. "No! I'm not letting you do this. It's a little past midnight and you're tired as hell, so you go home. I'm walking home on my own. It'd be completely fine."
He stared at her for a second before attempting to put his arm around her shoulders again. "No-"
"No, really!" she removed them again. "I know you're tired. I'm sorry for letting you stay awake on the bus. But I’ll be okay," she tried, trying to assure him.
"But it's past midnight--"
"That's my point."
"You know, it might not be safe--"
"might. Jinyoung, I'll be okay," she put her hands on his shoulders, moving closer. "Stop worrying."
Jinyoung wouldn't lie to himself, he couldn't handle her being this close to him. It was driving him crazy. His mind was already tired to even think about anything and he cursed at himself as to why he wasn't functioning in that moment.
As if she listened to his prayer, she closed the gap between them, standing on her toes with both of her hands on his cheeks, kissing him softly.
Time felt like it has stopped for the two of them. Jinyoung slowly kissed back, putting his arm around her shoulders to pull her closer.
"That was your first, wasn't it?" the girlfriend laughed when they ended the kiss, pinching his cheek playfully.
Jinyoung turned his head away, embarassed, although she couldn't even see his ears turning red because it was too dark. But nonetheless, he liked it. He liked the feeling.
"Ah, don't worry, I can't decide if you're good or not because it was mine too," she admitted shyly, also looking away.
This intrigued jinyoung. "That was your first? No way!"
"Yes way! Shut up."
"I am your first?"
"I'm your first too, kid. Now go home. You're tired," she replied, hitting his chest playfully.
Jinyoung didn't do anything. He just redid the whole thing, learning fast from her. In less than a second, his lips were on her once again, with his heart trying hard not to burst.
They laughed, and she hit his chest again. Everything was beautiful. He wanted to cherish the memory. If only they could see how red their faces were, they would be laughing harder.
"Go home now, okay?" her hands reached for his cheeks again, pinching them softly. "I'll see you tomorrow."
He smiled as she turned her back at him, leaving him all alone on the sidewalk, a little past midnight. He just stood there, watching her quickly disappear like dandelions, hoping he'd see her again tomorrow.
As she disappeared from his sight, a loud sound appeared out of nowhere, waking up people from the neighborhood. The girl laid on the cold ground motionless after a bullet shot through her head.
Staring at the empty sky above, a tear escaped her eyes as memories flooded back through her mind.
There was no tomorrow for her.
