@thepoisonjackal tagged me for this and while I did share a wip earlier today, I haven't shared anything from this fic I'm working on

The premise is that it's Baelara's first time meeting Vhaeraun after she gets attacked and loses her eye. She makes her pact, and then recovers for a while. This snippet is the opening of the recovery chunk of the fic.

Thinking about Mernet being Baelara's mom is so funny, like Mernet went out on her own, abandoning one kid, then she transitioned to being a woman, and then went and got pregnant (unintentionally but still). And then!, she gives birth and is like, "ok cool, i don't want a kid" and leaves before Baelara is even 3 months old. Like Baelara has two near-death experiences and one is literally before she was even conscious of being alive
