Baeyl and Szz'Yrr! Gosh, I miss them so much. And yeah, that basically was it! Ssz'Yrr was a devout follower of Eilistraee prior to being cursed with Drider-ism, and he was promised by Eilistraee that he would be redeemed, but only if he basically discarded the body he was cursed with. He couldn't tell anyone WHY, but if he was killed by someone other than an enemy, he would be resurrected and redeemed. Baeyl started out as an enemy to Szz, but she reminded him much of his old life and what he was lacking that some hope grew within him and he came to view her in a different, more spiteful/rival sort of light.
When he did die, then, it was by the hand of an enemy, not Baeyl, and Szz'Yrr was at that point gone with no hope of being resurrected by Eilistraee. He was resurrected by other means, though without his permission and with some dire consequences.
He does remember that Baeyl tried to help him though, and that she had no way of knowing what the terms of the 'deal' was. In his current timeline, all he knows is she was willing to talk with him when he was a monster rather than just, y'know, kill him.

Sorry, reply is a little long, here goes!
Oh, he did, very much so! I admit I was still something new to Drow culture when I made Szz'Yrr, but you're right on the money in thinking she was helping him by his choice, not forcing him. Her only requirement, for in Szz'Yrr's case Lloth had tied the curse much deeper than could ever be fully washed from his physical form, was that he discard that physical form and she would help grant him a new one after. This requirement poised, of course based on what Ssz'Yrr needed. This required being killed, but by the hand of a friend rather than an enemy for some intent of 'tarnishing the process' otherwise.
Trust me, Szz'Yrr did not become a Drider by active un-tampered choice-- and though it took a long time to clear the haze of misguided loyalty to Lloth, meeting Baeyl was effectively the straw on the camel's back-- to really give him the push he needed to try to regain his old self again.
I.... honest to god, cannot at all remember when I started this. I also can't remember WHY I started it, only knowing it was for a birthday, or a Holiday, but more importantly it was for YOU, Kari, and I've been working on it little by little by little over the past few months when I the availability/time to do so and I THINK THIS IS ABOUT AS DONE AS IT'S GOING TO GET.
I think I showed you a preview a long time ago, but it's done! As... done as it's going to get, anyway! This is... Gnnnnghogd the background was what was taking all the time, and then trying to get Baeyl to look right, AND I'M PRETTY SURE SHE STILL DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT BUT HUP HOORAY THERE SHE IS. I couldn't do her justice. ;-;
When we left off in our RP, I remember they were descending a mountain and going from green forest to gold forest, and while I don't remember what time of day it was I figure, 'eh, it's sunset, they're alone, they wouldn't be forced to be fully garbed up, they could take a nice little hike down the mountain.' Thus Kron'yrr decides it's the perfect time to show the project he's been working on! A burd to match her burd. HURRR dork.
As for Baeyl's garb... Iiiiiiii forgot what she wore most of the time so I gave her a somewhat dressier outfit. Like... maybe they masquerade as a pair of traveling bards, right? Kron sings, Baeyl plays? To that end, Kron usually wears a cloak, plain, over this outfit, and I imagine Baeyl has alternative robes but with these robes, she has a crescent moon on either sleeve, and a full moon on her back which flowers outward in the similar fashion that Kron's borders do. Then, on the inside of that robe, it's pitch black and speckled with stars, using a fabric that glows white in the dark. So she could turn her robes inside out and be wearing the night sky! Then, just because Kron always sees stars in her eyes, he convinced her to have them painted on her eyelids, if you look real close. At least once in a while. Not all the time!
....I swear to god he is the sappiest dork post-resurrection, even if the is the grumpiest of grumps around everyone but Baeyl.
BUT THERE YOU HAVE IIIIIT I'M SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG AND IT'S PROBABLY AN ANTI-CLIMACTIC ENDING BUT I LOVE YOU KARI, YOU ARE THE MOST AWESOME FRIEND I'VE EVER HAD AND EVEN IF WE DON'T TALK OR RP MUCH ANYMORE I THINK ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME AND HOPE YOU'RE DOING WONDERFULLY AHIESGHLSHKLGLKDG. HAVE A PAIR OF GLITTERY EILISTRAEE-WORSHIPPING DORKS.
Only during the linearting stage (before the assload of tweaking I do before and during coloring) do I realize that my style consists of "Old Superman Comic" and "BAEYL NO STOP BEING ANIMU STOP IT RIGHT NOW"
I SWEAR THEY'LL START TO LOOK LIKE DROW SOON. also hands, how do
