HOORAYYY IM FINALLY ON TUMBLR!! kicking off the blog with a banger, because if it wasn’t apparent enough I’m not normal about this nonexistent show whatsoever- and apologies if the formatting is weird at all, I’m still very new here and have no idea how any of this works lmao

ANYWAYS RANT ABOUT THE COMIC ITSELF HUZZAH, I have no idea where the urge to make this came from buuut I’ve been thinking about character dynamics a lot, so naturally I wanted to start with Varian and Nuru when putting it on a page!! the main goal here was to just establish Hugo as an asshole early VAT7K, because I think I forget that WAY too often- especially compared to Nuru because of their different backgrounds and economic factions. she’s used to taking direct action when faced with an issue whether that concerns her kingdom, her friends, even herself, and people have always recognized that- so when Hugo comes up and starts ignoring that entirely he naturally gets in her head 💔💔 then varian locks in yadda yadda, and I wanted to make it intentional that he DIDNT mention the person he was referring to was rapunzel, because both raps AND nuru are more than just their royal position, and Varian VERY much recognizes that that’s what Nuru needs (or I guess doesn’t need) to hear :D

hello tts fandom please accept this offering of angry and catalina

rant unrelated to the art, I will NEVER understand when people use Kiera to refer to angry- one of the main arcs they go through is that Catalina lingers in the moment and doesn’t like following through with change, she believes that if her and Angry stick to what they know, they’re living fine and can stay that way. Meanwhile, Angry always wishes for something better for them- she’s willing to take risks and takes charge of them both, always compelling them forward. THIS IS LITERALLY REFLECTED IN THEIR NAMES. Catalina learns to advocate for what she wants and her independent ideals as the series progresses, so she chooses to use the original name given to her- NOT RED. Angry moves on and recognizes that they now have a better life, hence why she chooses to not use Kiera. They both love eachother and Angry does her best to make Catalina feel more heard, because she knows that Catalina deserves that just as much as much as her. idk I just think that if the main arc they go through as a dynamic is so clearly portrayed in their own names people should use the right ones yk?? I love mindless rants <3

man my favorite part of VAT7K is when just as they’re about to open the gate to the eternal library Varian hits the gang with the “is everyone ready?” and they reply “as I’ll ever be” and the invincible title card rolls

or when varian was trying to talk Ulla out of going batshit insane and hits her with the “and you’ll realize you have nothing left to lose” and the invincible title card rolls yet again

okay so this has been floating around in my head for a while, but I was rewatching tts and it was brought up again in my mind so I decided to actually write down my unorganized ramblings, but like can we talk about Varian’s progressiveness when he tried helping Rapunzel undo the effects of the saporian memory wand? We of course know him as a very forgiving person, and one that would also do whatever he could to help Rapunzel and make up for his past doings- but I’m just really curious as to what would be floating around in his head like; here I am, attempting to help the person who was responsible for my fathers encasement in the amber (yes it was big fr*ds fault), imprisoning me for a year when I was barely a teenager, not making any attempt to help my father. On the other hand, these are the same people who I 1, kidnapped, 2, threatened harmed AND committed treason towards, 3, helped take over their kingdom with some dipshit manipulator, and 4 am part of the problem/reason they’re here in the first place… and they don’t know ANY of that anymore…

Now do I still believe Varian would have to move on from that because he’s more focused on helping both Raps and himself for all of his self blame and hatred? Yes absolutely, and he most definitely doesn’t acknowledge fully how messed up it was how both big fr*d AND Arianna treated him- again playing into his self blame that was probably drilled into his head for 2 years straight by himself and others. I still think he would of course be very avoidant of them like “oh there’s the person I kidnapped and threatened and the person who’s daughter I probably almost killed multiple times after she was missing for the past 18 years TIME TO RUN”, because how would he know when they finally got their memory back?? Which again ties into the complexity of him still trying to reverse the memory effects. Idk I just think it would be really awkward if like it actually worked and then big fr*d was just like “YOU!!!” and varian would BOOK it outta there

Insert transition here, but I also thought a LOT about how big fr*d would interact with varian after his memories were returned, and I came up with 2 main scenarios, either

1. This is the more likely one, he keeps his fair distance and doesn’t acknowledge Varian whatsoever, but he definitely doesn’t enjoy his presence in the castle and is constantly giving words of warning to Rapunzel about him (much to her dismay).

2. This is in my opinion the slightly more interesting one, but he actually DOES acknowledge Varian’s existence and involvement with everything- once, just once, but it’s enough to get the point across to Varian and mess with his brain a TON (as if he hasn’t done enough damage to him already).

(IM SORRY I DREW BIG FR*D IM SORRY IM SORRY EEEUUUGHHHH I HATED EVERY SECOND OF IT cough anygays) I think this would only reinforce the (eventually unhealthy) idea Varian has that he will constantly be in debt to the people of corona, especially the royal family. He will always be telling himself that he has to do good for them, he has to keep his distance, he has to help with the red rocks, he has to get through to Cass before she falls on the same path he did, he has to banish an ancient demon from hell or summ back to the shadow realm, and he CANT afford to mess up or it’s back to square 1 in multiple regards.

apologies if this is super unorganized and kinda falls off into tangents, I just really found it interesting the more I thought about it and I will forever love characterization of my beloved blorbos (not big fr*d he can go fuck a door or summ)
