"I don't even have to apply this one to my blorbos the song creator literally MADE IT for the blorbos. This is a song from the donghua Link Click's newest "season" (it's more of an OVA). The show follows Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang as they use their various time and photo related superpowers to solve mysteries, from finding where someone left a recipe to unraveling the truth behind a murder from years ago. Cheng Xiaoshi's power allows him to "dive" into the body of someone who took a photo, back to the exact time they took it. Lu Guang's allows him to see up to twelve hours into the future. With Lu Guang acting as a guide to make sure the timeline isn't too altered, Cheng Xiaoshi will pretend to be the person who took the photo until he can solve whatever mystery he dived back for. Lu Guang's very strict about the rules of these dives. Not because he cares about the timeline, though. No. It's because he cares about Cheng Xiaoshi, and he's already fucked up the timeline in order to save him. When someone dies, their power can be passed on to someone else if they happen to be touching them. Lu Guang knows this well, because he was able to dive back in time for another shot at saving Cheng Xiaoshi. And another. And another. He's lost count at this point. The Eye is sung from Lu Guang's point of view. Most of the songs for the show have been. He has been trying for god knows how long just to keep his stupid boy bestfriend crush love of his life thing from dying and it's starting to wear on him. There is nothing he wants more in life than for Cheng Xiaoshi to be safe and happy, even if it's at the cost of his own life. Unfortunately, the universe keeps putting them both in situations. "Can you BELIEVE they cut this from the movie it's the ENTIRE CRUX of Evan's conflict with trying to abandon his old life for a lie. Heidi is SO MAD and she's RIGHT. Jared and Alana are so mad and they're RIGHT TO BE. And Evan is STILL trying to deny agency but he KNOWS that the walls are closing in and it's his OWN FAULT. It's my FAVOURITE song in this musical because, while Requiem is heartbreaking and pretty and Waving Through a Window is painfully relatable, this one DEMANDS to be heard and I love it."
