A weekend of two halves, on Saturday I fished Acorn Fishery and had a fantastic day catching tench, perch, skimmers and quality roach for 38lb 8oz to win the silvers. Then Sunday it was Longs on Summerhayes, I drew peg 25 and struggled for 5lb 13oz of skimmers and roach. On Sunday we were at Dillington for the final winter league match. It’s fished quite hard but I managed another 3lb bonus skimmer plus roach and perch for 5lb 12oz and second place behind Dave Pope’s 10lb 12oz. Well done to Chris Haines for winning the league. Two more matches this weekend, fished the open at Acorn on Saturday, another lovely day catching roach, tench, perch and skimmers plus some carp for 39lb 8oz, won the section and was second in the silvers, just behind Tom Thick, love a bit of double bubble. Sunday it was back to Summerhayes where it was on Longs I drew peg 12 which is a great area and caught skimmers, roach plus a perch and a bonus 2lb eel to win the silvers with 12lb 5oz. A double header this weekend, fished Acorn Fishery on Saturday and had an awesome day catching tench, perch, skimmers and quality roach for 27lb 11oz but needed another 2lb to win the silvers. Sunday it was back to Summerhayes where it was on Sellicks, I got drawn peg 20 which was also the golden peg, it’s fished hard for most and my 8lb 4oz of skimmers and quality roach was enough to win the silvers and take home a bumper payday. Bit of a catch up from recent matches, IAA’s Xmas Fayre on the Isle saw me finish third with one chub and some bits for 3lb 5oz. Another trip to Revels saw me win the silvers on Canal lake with 7lb 8oz of skimmers and roach. Summerhayes was frozen but five mad anglers broke the ice and my two roach was top weight with 6oz! Back to Revels for the Tuesday open and I drew Trendles for the first time, an enjoyable day catching 24lb 6oz of mainly carp but needed another 9lb to frame. I’ve been wanting to fish Acorn Fishery for a while now so when I saw it was the Charlie Barnes memorial silvers match, I booked in. A good turnout of 26 anglers and despite it being bitterly cold, some decent weights were recorded. I caught a big perch plus skimmers, roach and tench for 11lb 4oz and second place behind Martin Rayet who had 13lb.
