Help me bake that bread!

Alright, tried making homemade bread for the first time tonight. We don’t have a mixer right now so I’m limited to doing it by hand.

Attempt 1 is edible 🙌 but needs help; the biggest issues are a VERY thick crust and VERY dense inside. Clearly need a better way to get it to rise (i think). Any suggestions or ideas on how to fix?
