“Right, because magically you’ve changed,” she challenged, glaring at him. “Let it go, Nathan,” she sighed, some of the bite leaving her expression as she moved to finish closing down her bakery. “Whatever we had is dead, alright? How am I supposed to just forget and forgive what you did?” she asked, catching his gaze briefly.

Owning a bakery was hard work and long hours, but she loved it. At least, Melody was happiest when she was actually getting to bake and create; she hated everything else. Especially wedding cake consultations. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy seeing others happy; she loved it when people's expressions lit up from her baking. Wedding cake consultations were simply a harsh reminder of what she didn't have and the fact that some brides-to-be could be absolute nightmares was just a fun little plus.

That's why when she spied Dr. McCoy pass in front of the windows, her stomach twisted in apprehension. Did his fiance already want changes? The woman had called less than an hour ago making new demands; Melody half hoped he was there to cancel their order in person. Money be damned; her business wasn't hurting.

When the tall doctor entered, she stepped from behind the counter to greet him, a sweet smile upon her features. "Dr. McCoy, I didn't expect to see you again so soon. What can I help you with?"
