Constant Instability (Chapter 6)

“Constant Instability” 

Rated: M (for mature langauge)

Summary: The punctual and kind Uraraka Ochaco has somehow ended up waking up late for class. Awaiting her demise when she reaches class, she notices Bakugou acting strangely.

Chapter 6:

“That shitty Uraraka, trying to ruin my evening. Why can’t I just be nice to my weak ass classmates? Is it really such a big fucking deal?!” Bakugou muttered as he opened the door to his room. He didn’t bother waiting for Kirishima before he left the common room, pissed that the red head made him wait for no reason. But Kirishima’s dorm was right next to his, so he knew he wouldn’t be able to get rid of him for too long.

“Bakugou!” Kirishima was running down the hall, waving his hand towards Bakugou to get him to stop, “Wait up!”

Bakugou replied distastefully, “What is it, shitty hair? You already made me wait for that stupid girl, I am not fucking wasting my time again,” 

At this point, Kirishima was near Bakugou and his own room. “Bakugou, what happened? She just told me she wanted to ask you a question. Was it really that bad?”

“Tch,” Bakugou turned the handle on his door, opening it without even looking at Kirishima, “She asked me a fucking question for no damn reason. I let her borrow my notes, so fucking what?” As Bakugou stepped through his door, about to close it on Kirishima, Kirishima moved to stop the door from shutting on him.

“I’m letting myself in, Bakugou,” Kirishima walked right through as Bakugou cursed under his breath, wondering why he had such annoying classmates. “It’s not very manly of you to get all upset over Uraraka asking a question. It’s nice that you let her borrow your notes, but she was probably just confused.”

Bakugou closed the door harshly as he put his stuff down onto the floor and plopped himself onto a chair, “Why the fuck would she be confused?! They’re just fucking notes since she missed all of our damn class,”

Kirishima placed his hand behind his neck, trying to watch his words, “Bakugou, I, um, don’t think you’ve shared notes with any one of us before,”

“And why the fuck does that matter? I don’t have to give you dumbasses my notes if I don’t want to, they’re fucking mine.” Bakugou replied, crossing his arms; his tone was unwavering.

“So why did you give them to Uraraka specifically? Were you just being nice?”

“We’ve been over this so many fucking times shitty hair, why does it matter ‘why’. I made my choice, that’s it, and there is nothing else to it. It makes no damn sense WHY you guys are acting like a bunch of fucking idiots,”

Kirishima was pushing it, because now he was confused, but also had an inkling of where this conversation could go. He was bracing himself to get murdered by this problem classmate of his, but although Bakugou would only reciprocate friendship in his own way, Kirishima was willing to push the boundaries for him. “Bakugou, do you…like Uraraka?”

Bakugou looked like he was about to spit on the floor, “Round face? What do you fucking mean do I ‘like her’? I want to kill fucking all of you every time we’re in class.”

Kirishima wasn’t able to tell if there were any signs of Bakugou wavering on his words. Sometimes, Bakugou would get really quiet and brooding if he was serious about something. But Kirishima gave it a moment, hoping that maybe Bakugou would answer more honestly if Kirishima gave him some space.

“Are you not going to fucking say anything, shitty hair? After all this damn nonsense that we just went through?” Bakugou was getting out of his seat, not really to fight, but just because he was getting tense. Kirishima wasn’t sure if this meant they were getting somewhere.

“I just wanted to give you a second to think, because maybe you don’t know the answer as to ‘why’. The Bakugou I know, the future #1 hero, doesn’t do things just at random. He has a reason for everything he does.” Kirishima’s voice became softer, which may seem weird because Bakugou was everything besides soft, and so it didn’t seem like it would help. But Kirishima was always there for Bakugou, supporting the boy in all that he did. Maybe because Kirishima knew, without saying, that Bakugou was more than just his vulgar language and heated personality - but Bakugou just didn’t know how to let anything on.

Bakugou quieted at the praise, still with a scowl on his face but let his arms relax a little onto the chair. He wasn’t oblivious by any means, but the thought of “liking” Uraraka never entered his mind. He respected her to a degree after their battle where she went past her limits to beat him, enough to remember her name. But he never thought anything else of it. “What do you mean, do I ‘like’ her?”

Kirishima smiled softly, not because Bakugou was stupid, but because there was so much Kirishima couldn’t gauge from Bakugou’s mind. Despite his personality, Bakugou was reserved about his inner thoughts. He was quiet. Kept to himself. And when he wasn’t training or studying, it seemed to Kirishima that he was often thinking. Kirishima never thought it would go well to ask what Bakugou was thinking about, after being near his classmate for a while now. But when they sparred together, it seemed like when he drowned out Bakugou’s screams of winning and being victorious, Kirishima could get a better glimpse of his mind. 

“Well, I’m not too good with this romance stuff, but when you see her, do you ever want to spar with her like how we do when we train? Or do you want to help her be a better person? Or I don’t really know…think she’s pretty? Stuff that makes you more manly I guess,”

The scowl never went away, but Bakugou did get quiet. Kirishima gave him a moment to think, unsure if the blonde actually liked Uraraka, or if he was just confused now as well. Kirishima started feeling bad, but then Bakugou spoke up.

“I don’t fucking know. Can that be my answer so you can leave?”

Kirishima nodded and took the answer as it was. That was probably the most he was going to get out of Bakugou, and if Bakugou was actually confused, then he wouldn’t have an answer to give anyways. Kirishima didn’t know what to do with this vague information, but started to get up to leave.

“Yeah, it’s getting late anyways. If you want to talk about it, let me know. I’ll see you in class” Kirishima answered him.

Bakugou’s arms were crossed again as he watched Kirishima leave the room and close his door. He wanted to punch something considering how this whole mess started because of him doing one nice thing for Uraraka. He couldn’t even remember what he was thinking when he put his notebook down on her desk, seeing that she wasn’t talking to Deku or four eyes.

“Why does it have to fucking mean something? I’m never doing anything nice for anyone again,” Bakugou muttered to himself, getting ready for bed. He wasn’t going to treat Uraraka any differently than he usually would. But maybe that was it. Maybe his new usual would be something…different. 

Bakugou somehow managed to whisper loudly as he got into bed since he already showered earlier, “Why would I like stupid Uraraka? She’s always hanging out with that loser anyways. Kirishima is on something.”

And so the angry boy went to sleep, thinking nothing of anything.

Time Sculpture by JEFRË

This shiny shimmering 12-meter metal sculpture is an added attraction to SM Megamall and a newest landmark along EDSA. It's an awesome masterpiece.

It depicts a man looking at his watch, which JEFRË wants to be a reminder to people that time is valuable. Even when stuck in traffic, people should learn how to respect the idea of time by using it productively.

The giant sculpture is part of JEFRË’s Baks Series, the artist’s first signature works. The Baks Series was named after the phonetic pronunciation of the word “box” in American English. Its figures are archetypes representing people who give life and character to cities around the world.
