Why did Masquerade have to come out of the closet when the Vexos are just the skittles squad no explanation.
Ok this was a shitpost but now I’m going to talk.
Whatever you headcanon Masquerade’s identity to be is beautiful and perfect. I think the best part about Masquerade is that they mean different things to different people. Masquerade meant to me that I could become a boy. Gender queer people of all types probably felt a kinship with this character because Alice could become such a passing cis man. The VAs really sell it. In English Alice has this hyper feminine voice and then Masquerade comes in sounding like the edgy anime rival. Dude, trans people on every isle have gender envy for Masquerade.
So I don’t really have a headcanon. Especially since Masquerade isn’t really around and exists as a part of Alice. He’s within her though, a part of her identity. She, can be he, y’know? It’s a level of complexity that makes me adore Alice whenever she’s in screen.
All I know for sure is that Alice and Masquerade are gender queer, and the rest is up to us. To you, who’s Masquerade in your heart?
