I have only started replaying Baldur's Gate 2 and I'm deeply shocked by BioWare's decision to make Jaheira romanceable. I mean, even more shocked than I was years back when I played for the first time (and ragequit early because I sucked at DnD combat).
Hey you, she's a grieving woman. Freshly bereaved. She has just found the mutilated corpse of her husband in a dungeon, she couldn't even put him to rest. And you tell me she can be romanced just days after? Bloody hells. In BG3 she is the only one who could have made me give Halsin a break for a run, but she is still loyal to Khalid - and this is fine. Characters have their lives, their stories, and this is hers.
Also, it feels so strange not to have lesbian/gay/bi/pan romance. There are 3 straight options for males and one (one, with a male human paladin, I demand an apology) straight option for women. So male coded I have to remind myself that the game is quarter a century old.
However, the game is amazing. I only made it to Athkatla and I'm hooked. No ragequitting this time - thanks for the story mode. As you can guess, I still suck at DnD combat.
