and as it shatters, let me shatter into you -
You were dating Bruce Wayne. It was hard for both of you, but you had both been close friends over the years, and both of you were more than willing to overcome all hardships, so desperate for each other. Bruce was famous, the richest man in Gotham! Of course it’s a little hard for him to maintain relationships. But he loves you so much, he doesn’t even mind.
You were also dating the one and only Batman. Not many knew this except you. Pretty soon after the relationship had started, he told you his little secret. It’s probably not the safest to be dating Batman, even knowing that he’s Batman poses multiple risks to your safety and wellbeing. Bruce doesn’t want you to leave him, but he also can’t be with you without you knowing, and being fully aware of all that this entails.
You stay with him, of course. You love Bruce, and you aren’t going to leave him for something like that. You don’t believe Bruce would ever let anything bad happen to you. Plus, dating Batman is pretty sick.
Bruce is often busy, leaving you waiting at Wayne Manor for his return. His return, where he showers you with all of his attention, almost always, regardless of how tired he may be. And you do the same, waiting for him all day—you definitely want to spend as much time with him, relaxing him.
So when Bruce comes home from his day at work, you run at the sound of the door. Shooting up from your seat, rushing out of the room to meet Bruce there. After a few seconds, you make it, wrapping your arms around his neck, hugging him and meeting his lips with yours. Bruce puts his hands onto your waist, moving you closer to him, feeling him smirk into the kiss, tightening his grip on your waist. You smile into the kiss as well, feeling him do it.. it’s.. well, contagious. You break apart, heaving, trying to regain air lost from the long kiss. “Well, have you missed me?” Bruce says, smirking as he puts his coat down. “Maybe..” You whisper, intertwining your fingers with his.
You sit around and talk. It’s 6pm, the door to the balcony is cracked open, whereas a slight breeze enters the room. It’s.. nice. Cozy. On par for Bruce. His house is always well kept, and has a certain atmosphere to it. It really shines through tonight, though.
You put your head on his shoulder and hold his hand. “Here,” Bruce says, taking your hand and standing up, “follow me.” You gasp but oblige, walking towards the cracked-opened balcony window, dimly lit by lights installed in the railing.
Bruce takes both your arms and starts dancing with you, rhythmically. It almost seemed like there was music, the way you moved was so coordinated and beautiful. Your breathing shaky, you lie your head on him. He puts a hand on your neck and continues. Bruce twirls you over to the railing, near the lights, and just.. holds you. The view from Wayne Manor is truly beautiful, even more so at night. He sets a hand on your hand, lying on the railing, and winds your fingers together. Such an intimate moment—almost, fragile.

The island clans had no way of gaining resources to live other than training with the Sea Eagle clan.
Bale had woken up early and headed out to sea. It would be a long journey to trade with the Sea Eagles. After all, the Sea Eagles lived a day away. Oftentimes, the Sea Eagles would meet the Seals halfway. However, today it was different.
He waited and watched, listening to the sounds of the waves, the sounds of the birds and ocean animals as they called out around him.
Bale kept his eyes on the treeline in the distance. Yet, there was nothing.
He waited a little, but he couldn't continue to wait long.
He began to paddle closer and closer to shore.
Eventually, he reached the Sea Eagles' former camp.
There was nothing, only the remains of what used to be.
He looked around. He was unfamiliar with the forest and the camp.
He slowly stepped closer to the trees. He didn't want to cause trouble and be in a place he shouldn't be, but his clan needed some things.
Things that only came from the forest.
He was about to turn back when he stopped.
He had thought he had seen something.
You have lived in the forest all your life, and for some reason, animals were attracted to you.
You would be walking around and suddenly an animal would walk up to you, unafraid.
There was something different about you. Normally animals would run at the sight of humans, but none ran from you.
You did develop a language of sorts with them. They understood you and you understood them.
You had been checking the traps when a deer walked up to you. You looked at it and it made a noise.
You looked behind you and saw nothing. You rose from your spot and followed the deer.
It had led you to the edge of the forest but would go no further.
You looked out past the tree line, seeing the beach and the remains of the Sea Eagle camp.
They had moved their camp a while back for winter. The beach was their summer camp.
A tall man stood on the beach, looking into the forest. He seemed almost confused or lost. You knew by his clothes and the patch of animal skin on his shoulder that he was an islander.
You stepped out of the trees as he looked at you.
"What is that thing?" He asked as he pointed behind you.
"A deer." You said, smiling as you looked at him.
"Oh… um, I'm here looking for the Sea Eagles. I'm Bale from the Seal Clan."
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Y/N, from [clan name]. The Sea Eagles moved for the winter. Maybe I can help you?"
"I was looking for some items for my clan. Do you have any wood or rope?"
"Yeah, follow me!" You said as you turned and began to head into the forest.
Bale hesitated for a moment. He couldn't leave his boat behind, but he couldn't arrive empty-handed for the trade. The items for the trade were in his boat and he couldn't carry both.
He grabbed the bundle of fish and hurried after you.
Every so often, you would stop to talk to one of the animals that came over to you.
"Does that always happen?" He asked as he looked down at you.
You were crouching and petting a bunny.
"What?"
"The whole animals showing up and you… speaking to them?" He wasn't sure that "speaking" was the right word, but it didn't seem to be a normal behavior for animals and people.
"Yeah, I'm not sure why, but I get along with most creatures like this."
He nodded and smiled a small smile as he remembered you and the deer earlier.
"We should probably get going." He said as he looked up, hoping he could see what time it was, but to no avail. He wasn't used to the forest and the way the light hit the trees.
Unfortunately for him, he would have to stay an extra day before returning home.
"The Sea Eagles are pretty far away. Are you sure you want to trade with them?"
"I'll trade whoever can get me some good wood for our tools."
You nodded at his statement and led him to your clan.
"Thank you, Y/N."
"You're welcome."
Bale completed his trade with your clan. Unfortunately, due to the setting sun, he would have to stay before heading out.
While he stayed, he chose to stay near you, speaking and getting to know you better. He would occasionally speak to the other clan members if they spoke to him first.
When early morning came, Bale woke up and began to get ready to head out. He had a question to ask you before he left.
It wasn't long before you showed up.
"Hey, Y/N… Would you like to live with me on the island?"

I think Bale likes big dogs
Something bigger, with lots of energy so that he can take them on runs and train them to be a good guard dog to protect him and his loved ones
But also, roughly half of the population of Russia own cats
So of course I can see him having a kitty, probably a grey tabby he's trained to sit on his shoulders
When it comes to Sputnik, he isn't as big of a love-dovey "uncle"
figure when compared to Rodion, or even the Minotaur
That doesn't mean he doesn't care for the fluffy beast, he's just less enthusiastic when it comes to baby-sitting Sputnik
He's a little more worried about his house then the others
But he cares for Rodion
I'm pretty sure it's canon that Rodion is the youngest in the squad, and I believe that Bale always made sure he was okay
He's always been the most level-headed brother, so he has a major habit of being big brotherly
I think there is something similar in his relationship when it comes to Nikto, but I think it's a lot quieter
With Rodion, Bale is always showing off his approval/affection by telling him he did a good job and maybe even giving him a literal pat on the back
With Nikto, it's more of a nod and participating in traditions with him
Overall I think his love language would be acts of service/quality time
He wants to make you food, run you a bath, drive you around
I do think he would like to stay in, and eat a home-made dinner for dates
And it's not that he doesn't like your cooking, he just likes the action more
But, if you like dressing up and feeling nice, he's always more than willing to spend a couple extra bucks to take you out

You had been friends with Bale for many years. The both of you had grown up together on the island.
The island lived divided, the women never leaving, only staying to cook, clean, and care for the children.
The men did the hunting and fighting.
Women very rarely left unless a man from the forest took them as their significant other and brought them to their clan.
Men also very rarely left their island unless it was hunting, trading, or visiting the other islands nearby.
Aside from the forest that resided on the island, no one had seen one before.
However, you felt much better and more comfortable there. Almost as if you belonged there.
Your gaze would often go to the trees. As a young child, you could often be found in the woods, wandering, exploring, and just being at peace.
You tried to keep it a secret to yourself, however; you worried Bale at times.
This wasn't normal Seal Clan behavior and why would you want to go live amongst the trees? It was too crowded. The Sea Mother gave you guys anything and everything you could ever need.
You were good at hiding your feelings, but not from Bale. When the two of you were alone, you were easily distracted by the trees, the wood, and the smell of the earthy air mixing with the salty air from the sea.
Bale often asked what was wrong and if you were okay, but you said you were fine and often passed your behavior off as possibly having seen some small creature in the woods.
No one in the clan knew of anything except for people living on the islands, crabs, and maybe seals. After all, it was named 'Seal Island' due to the number of seals that could be found. So Bale was only slightly convinced that you may be right. Bale was often friendly and easy to get along with, making friends with just about anyone and everyone he met.
You sat in your skinboat and slowly paddled out to sea, the sun beginning to set. It was late out, too late, but you wanted another view. The trees cast shadows on the ground.
You breathed in and slowly sighed, a slight smile forming on your face.
How you wanted to live there. Be one with the forest. The forest clans lived in the east and were a day away.
You didn't know anyone who lived there, and you didn't have any friends there, but still, you longed for the trees.
You would have to let Bale know one day. You wanted to move and live there.
You paddled towards home. When you reached land, you got out and lifted your boat out of the water. The same routine another night.
You went to sleep, but it didn't last long. Early morning came, and you were ready to go.
The sun barely peeked over the horizon.
You packed up your sleeping sack but left the rest for later. You had to speak to Bale first.
You sat by the fire that was slowly burning out. You poked it with a stick, hoping it would ignite itself again.
Bale came out of his shelter and greeted you, and you greeted him.
"Hey, Bale, I'd like to live in the forest."
You said as you followed him down to the sea. He had planned on fishing, just like any other day, but with what you said. He stopped, made direct eye contact with you, and gently put the back of his hand on your face. Checking to see if you were unwell, but you felt fine.
"Are you sure, Y/N? I mean, you don't know anyone there?"
"Yes Bale, I'm sure. I feel closer to the forest, and just wish to live there."
Bale looked down, then to the sea. He closed his eyes and breathed in slowly. He didn't want to cry, he would miss his friend.
He lowered his head, taking a few moments to gather himself before he turned and walked towards you.
He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you in close, holding you in a tight hug.
"I'm going to miss you." He said, his voice cracking from the pain he was in.
You wrapped your arms around him. You had never heard Bale in so much pain before. You started to cry as well.
"Please… tell me you'll come and visit."
"I promise you, I will."
Bale held onto you for a few moments longer, before he let go and gave you a gentle pat on the shoulder. You decided then that you would wait one more day before heading out.
