Fear has the tendency to talk at Ennui without expecting much of a response. He can drone for hours about crappy dreams from Dream Productions, complain his coffee being burnt, whine about just about anything and everything. Ennui actually does listen in (he’s a pretty passionate storyteller!), but she usually only responds with, “That sounds boring.”
Ennui sometimes gets very irritated with Fear during his freakouts - especially because he cannot always articulate what exactly is freaking him out. She might hand him her phone with a soothing baby sensory video being played on it. Usually this does the trick.
Ennui once accidentally stayed up to do dream duty with Fear; his constant flow of commentary on the dream reminded her fondly of a YouTube video. She fell asleep to the sound of his voice ~
Fear will help Ennui find her phone when she loses it - secretly he thinks it’s a little interesting to see her stressed and invested about something. :3
Anxiety dislikes it when Ennui has prolonged control over the console, as she feels it puts a damper on their productivity. However, Fear likes the boredom! Ennui’s control is calming and quiet and gives him an opportunity to sit back and enjoy a hot drink in peace. Anxiety and Fear bicker about whether or not Ennui should be driving - Ennui doesn’t remotely care either way - she does not listen to either of them and interacts with the console whenever it feels right to her.
Fear complains about how often Ennui will sleep through a whole day and night, which she does around once a week. If he had the nerve, he would drag her to the console so she’d contribute as she’s supposed to! However, he does not.
Ennui will sometimes walk up to Fear, pick him up, shake him, and put him back down, just to fuck with him. She does this with Anxiety, too, but Anxiety learned to not react. Fear, however, launches into a tirade about respecting personal boundaries, every single time. (Which is incredibly rich coming from him). So she keeps doing it, because it’s funny.
Fear tries to talk to Ennui about French cinema, but she doesn’t actually watch many movies, so these conversations mostly end up as Fear monologuing about his own favorite films. Ennui actually reminds Fear of one of his favorite actresses… And also Slenderman. Scary girl…
Fear was shocked at Ennui’s all-encompassing indifference towards everything when she first came up to Headquarters. But over time, he realizes this is a rare (and perhaps a slightly attractive) quality…
Ennui thinks Fear is cute like a bug, or a sopping wet kitten. She doesn’t initially think anything of him, but over time, his zero-to-one-hundred overreactions and surprisingly cynical observations start to make her laugh, and draw her attention…
